In the past we have bought 5day park hoppers to disneyland at our local disney store. This year we are going to do the AP for the first time. We just need to decide if we will buy the 5day and trade up or just get the AP to start. We are a little worried that somehow we won't be able to trade up or something. I guess we better decide quick since we are going this month.

Originally we planned a two week trip for Sept-October, so we bought AP's this year.
Having AP's has 'forced' us to go more to make use of them so I say they're a great thing.
Because we have AP's we decided to hit Disney for our 10th Anniversary this past April. I mean the passes were PAID for. We wanted to go on a trip and this made it 'cheap' (
I said Disney and Cheap in the same paragraph
)
Well our passes don't expire until April 2008. We may as well take the family again in March so we use our DVC points for 2008 (our Use Year is February).
I love, love, love having AP's. I am trying to sneak in another weekend along the way. I am truly hopeless.

That is a good idea. We may have to try that sometime. We also have some friends from church who bought a camper and then purchased an annual pass. They would go down every chance they had (school holidays, long weekends, etc.) and stay at the Fort Wilderness Campground. They have 4 children so this was more economical for them and they said that it was nice because they did not worry about coming back in the afternoon for a nap or break. They did say by the end of the year they were "Disneyed Out" though.MouseMan wrote:
Here is a tip I heard of if you go every year and stay on the Disney property. Say you usually spend a week and go from June 15 to June 21 the first year. You can plan your next trip to be June 8 to June 14 and your annual pass is good for both trips. You also will save about 15 or 20% (sometimes more) on your hotel and other purchases with the AP discount on both trips. So in effect you get 2 vacations for the price of one annual pass.
