July 4th at Disney World

Post by Mrs. Evans » Jun Fri 29, 2007 9:55 am

My husbands parents are going down on July 4th. ( I kinda think they are nuts for doing so but they are fanatics) This will be their 4 th trip this year alone. Anyway, they wanted me to ask if the crowds and heat will be unbarable. My Father in Law is in a wheelchair.
Usually they get around great but I think they are a little concerned over the huge crowds. Oh Also Are the fireworks spectacular for the 4th?

Yes!
Yes!!
Yes!!!
It will be hot and crowded but with the 4th in the middle of the week this year it may be a little better than it usually is (but don't count on it).
The special fireworks shows are spectacular and they usually have special shows in the AK and Studios just for the 4th.
I have a niece who has been to WDW only 1 day in her life and she hated it. She went to Epcot on the 4th of July. I keep trying to convince her to try again but she hasn't done it yet.

Unless they're staying at a Disney resort they need to be cognizant that the Magic Kingdom and perhaps other parks might very well close to capacity. Independence Day at the Magic Kingdom to me, as much as I love it, it hell on earth. I'd personally choose a different park to visit or better yet avoid the parks altogether and watch the fireworks at MK from the Polynesian beach.

I got this off another web site.

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. -- Parades, fireworks and nighttime spectaculars will fill Disney parks with Fourth of July fun at Walt Disney World Resort. Here's what's in store on July 4:

Magic Kingdom -- "Disney Dreams Come True" parade (12:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.); "Fantasy in the Sky" fireworks (9 p.m.); "SpectroMagic" parade (10:30 p.m. and 12:30 a.m.). Park hours: 8 a.m.-1 a.m.

Epcot -- "IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth" spectacle of lights, music and fireworks (10 p.m.). Park hours: 9 a.m.-10 p.m.

Disney-MGM Studios -- "Disney Stars and Motor Cars" parade (3 p.m.); 4th of July fireworks (9 p.m.); "Fantasmic!" nighttime spectacular of dancing water, dramatic music, breathtaking animation, lasers, fireworks and surprises (10 p.m.). Park hours: 9 a.m.-10 p.m.

Disney's Animal Kingdom -- "Mickey's Jammin' Jungle Expedition" parade (4 p.m.). Park hours: 9 a.m.-8 p.m.

ALSO this.

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. -- In the place where Dreams Come True, more than 1,000 immigrants from dozens of countries will realize their dream of becoming United States citizens during a Naturalization ceremony on the Fourth of July at Walt Disney World Resort.

For the first time in its 35-year history, Disney's Magic Kingdom theme park will be the backdrop as Disney Parks and Resorts and United States Citizenship and Immigration Service (USCIS) jointly host a "Dreams Come True" swearing-in ceremony on the forecourt of Cinderella Castle. The event will be open to park guests on Independence Day morning.

Presided over by Director of USCIS Emilio Gonzalez, dreamers from more than 75 countries will raise their right hand and take the Oath of Allegiance to become citizens. The ceremony will feature the presentation of the colors, a keynote address by U.S. Sen. Mel Martinez (R-FL), the national anthem performed by Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter Gloria Estefan, the Oath of Allegiance and the Pledge of Allegiance. USCIS will also recognize Estefan and her husband Emilio as outstanding "Americans by Choice" for being exemplary naturalized citizens.

Besides the keynote address by Sen. Martinez, festivities will also include a stirring performance of "God Bless the U.S.A." by singer Lee Greenwood.

To cap a star-spangled morning, a squadron of U.S. Air Force F-15s will streak across the sky as America's newest citizens and their families join in their own July 4th parade down Main Street, U.S.A.
