Flying is the only way to go. Just 2.5 hours from NY. I know people who drive from New York, but not me. It's a vacation and I want to enjoy myself and not spend my vacation in the car! I also take the first flight out in the morning so I am in the park by 1 PM and I try to take the 8:30 PM flight home that give me most of the day in the parks.

We drive down (from CT) in a car after leaving really early in the morning. Our first stop is Savanah Georgia in a little over a day. Then the next day it's down to FL. The way up we stop at my grandparent's house in Myrtle Beach.
I never realized how many people fly! I never thought driving was that bad. (Although I'm not the one doing the driving

We typically fly. There was only one time we drove from Chicago (back in 2003) since it was cheaper for us, and we're not likely to do it again. Plus it seemed to kinda lose it's magic when you're looking at maps and trying to make sure you're taking the right turns at the right places, etc....instead of just flying into this "different world."

Well, not to Disney but we take the train to NYC from Washington DC. I-95 from DC to NY is a nightmare and Amtrak is much easier and actually a bit more convenient than flying to NYC.FlatlandMounty wrote:Who takes a train anymore?

We drive. It takes 12 hours for us to get there. Most people from around here say it only takes them 10 hours. I don't know if I was just make'n good but I got to Walt Disney World an hour earlier this time. I did take the new "Disney" road. Boy was that great, no traffic, and drove in the "back door".

Since we only live 6 or 7 hours from Orlando we drive. It gives us alot of freedom. We normally stay on propery, but we're not traped there. We can go to dinner at some of the great resturants Orlando and Kissimme have to offer. Shopping at the different Disney outlet stores can save you a bundle, Orlando has at least 3 different ones.
Also with our DS2 getting into those teenage years we find ourself at Universal and IOA for the their thrill rides. I couldn't imagine not having the freedom our car offers. If we flew we would actually have to leave at a scheduled time (we always stay a day or two longer, we once stayed 10 days over). Yes, I'm so glad we don't have to fly!!
