Did they tell you when you were making your reservations that you would be testing them, or did you receive an email letting you know?

I'm picking green for sure!

I think it would be so nice to have the MB especially because we have the free dining plan. With F&W and since we are going to use so many of our snack credits that way - it would be so easy! FUN!
I pick one color and then look at the picture and want a different color...I'm lucky I don't have to choose for our upcoming trip!
I would think the Magic Bands will be very easy for use at the F&W booths...if they are working properly!
Oh gosh - I never even thought of the glitches that could happen! That would be horrible! Especially if you are trying to get into a park or just get your food![/quote]
this is the same technology (basically)that is in the KTTW cards, so i would not think that there will be many 'glitches' rfid, on the whole, seems pretty stable, soon you will start seeing more and more rfid tagged items in walmart... soon enough you will not have to go through a checkout lane at all, just a rfid arch to pay.

Wow - I am so not ready for all of that technology! A little fun but a little scary too. haha

I just want to be able to get a fast pass without having to dig in my purse for my park card and get a snack without fumbling for my wallet! ;-)

Since the bands are still only in beta testing right now, have the hotels that are using them switched all the door locks over to the new ones yet?

BWI locks were all done when we were there in Dec '12. Cannot speak for the other resorts. And you don't have to take it out of your wallet. I would just hold my wallet up to the door and open says me :)

Yeah, that would be expected since all RFID badges do that. I never understood why people would rather wear the necklace or the janitor's keyring card rather than just keep it in their wallet. The readers are all at wallet level so I can unlock the door by just glancing by it.

They told me over the phone when I made the reservation that we were testing them. Was origionally staying at CBR when it was just a party of 2 and was not offered the Magic Bands (my daughter is going to Minecon that weekend), but when we decided to change it to a family vacation we switched to the Poly and were offered them.

Yodiwan got magic bands for his 2-man bachelor party, and he said on FB that his wasn't working at all, for neither park entry nor purchases to his credit card. However, his friend's MB was working.

Weird.

it may be a 'powered' transmitter and the battery was bad... would not understand why it would need to be powered, but there you go

If the battery were bad it should actually still work, similar to a keyless ignition, but you would need to be very close to the reader. I think they might be having issues with loading/programming the bands up in the first place.

Our Magic bands just arrived. Way cooler than I expected, and faster on the delivery.

Way to go Disney! :D

How did you find out that you were eligible for them? Our trip begins on Nov 2 and we are staying at the Wilderness Lodge. We did book our trip through MouseFanTravel, so I dont' know if that makes a difference. I'm just VERY ansy to know if we get to use MBs or not! lol
