I realised that in our two trips to WDW someone from our family group had been selected six times to take part in something.
I started to feel quite privileged but then thought that there must be folk out there who have achieved similar fame or even done better than we have.
For the record our appearances are as follows:
1 - Magic Kingdom 1998. We had stationed ourselves just across the bridge opposite the Sleepy hollow snack bar ready to watch the "Disney's Magical Moments" Parade. As we enjoyed it with our girls then aged 8 & 5 the parade came to halt with the Alice in Wonderland float by us. The Characters got down from the float and along with some CMs selected children including our two girls to dance with them. Our daughters were handed flags by the White Rabbit and then danced in circles waving their flags with Alice and her friends for a couple of minutes. Two excited children then returned to mum & dad as the parade moved on.
2 - Disney MGM Studios 1998. It was cool and wet so looking for an indoor attraction we headed for the ABC 1 Saturday Morning Show. Being from the UK we had no idea what it was but sounded fun. The host was quickly looking for volunteers to help create the sound effects in his story and we asked our girls if they wanted to take part. Our eldest said yes and put up her hand - she was chosen and trotted up to the front. For some reason none of us can remember what sound effect she played but who cares its the taking part that counts
3 - Animal Kingdom 1998. We were resting our feet in The Boneyard watching the girls play as they dug for fossils in the sand. A film crew from a Spanish speaking company came over filming. The female presenter asked a couple of children to move over so she could do her piece to camera. She said something to our youngest before arranging our children as the focal point for her shoot. We watched from the edge and when it finished the girls came over to us and we asked our young daughter what the lady had said to her. The question was " Can I film you while you dig?" the answer "Only if my sister is in it too!" The lady had no option after that!
4 - Epcot 1998. Wandering round World Showcase we came to Mexico just as some musicians were setting up. This was a group called Huitzilin performing native Mexican music. We stopped to watch and after opening their show they were looking to add additional musicians to their group. Children of course are generally near the front and a maraca was offered to our eldest daughter who accepted and was then led forwards to join in the next piece.
So we had managed to perform in each park. The thought that we might repeat this when we went back in 2011 didn't cross my mind however we managed to come up with what I think are the best.
I will add these in a follow up post shortly
