Mouseplanet.com wrote:Disney opens family suites at All-Star Music
There's a new option for families who would normally need two hotel rooms during their stay at Walt Disney World. The 520 square-foot All-Star Music Family Suites feature all new furniture in their two bedrooms, two bathrooms and mini-kitchen. The kitchen has a microwave, a 4.3 cubic-foot "cube" refrigerator, a sink and a coffee/tea pot with refillable amenities, plus limited cabinet space.
The main bedroom has a queen bed, plus a 27" flat-screen TV. The second bedroom has a double sleeper sofa, a convertible twin chair sleeper and a convertible twin ottoman, plus additional storage space. Like the rest of All-Star Music, the family suites also have high-speed Internet access available for an extra charge.
The 192 units are in the Calypso and Jazz buildings, and are non-smoking only. The rack rates for these rooms are $169 in value season, $209 in regular season, $239 in peak season and $259 in holiday season. The room code for these rooms is AB, and there are no AAA rates for these rooms at this time.
If these rooms are as successful as expected, it is quite possible that the second phase of the Pop Century Resort (1900s-1940s, The Legendary Years) will begin construction as suites-only. Nothing newly firm on that, but it would follow from what we've heard in the past

Could be a good deal. Looks like you could sleep 6 and only costs about $11 more than 2 AS rooms in value season and you get the fridge and microwave. Since we will have 5 or 6 on our next trip to WDW it could be just what we need.

Sounds interesting, definitely something I'd check out in the future.

I tried to get in there on Saturday, but they are tighter than a drum right now. I have the room layout, but don't know how to upload photos here? Or can't we do that?

you have to host the image on another site (like photobucket) then you can post the image using the codes on the reply screen. Or, host it on another site and just post the link.

I also wanted to add that the second room with the bedroom is totally enclosed. They have removed the door. The window in that room has a screened window now, which can open.

Yeah, I really don't see how this increases the number of places to sleep in the room. It actually seems like you can sleep less if people aren't really going to be able to sleep on the sleeper sofa.

Queen bed = 2ppl
Double sleeper soffa = 2ppl
Single chair = 1 ppl
Single ottoman = 1 ppl
Deacon, to someone used to the DVC resorts it's going to be like water drip torture, but for families of five or six kids on a wicked tight budget, nirvana.
I hope to be seeing one of the rooms in action at the end of next month. I just can't for the life of me see how someone would be comfortable on the pull out chair or ottoman, but I've been surprised at what Disney can pull out of a hat before, so we'll see.

This is a great idea! I'm glad disney is thinking about lower budget families...
Those 1500$ for a family of 4 vacations are a great bargain too.

My sister and I used to have blow up mattreses and sleeping bags.. We would always just sleep on the floor of my parents hotel room. We did this for a long time. Even when I was 17 and my sister was 13.
