Mindflipper, we eat healthy most of the time, but I'm not one of those people that won't allow myself to indulge once in a while. When on vacation, calories do not count!

I'm with you....the shake has to be Chocolate!

How was the Dole Whip?! My mouth is watering!

BB - Also, Disney is one of those places where you are constantly moving and sweating, so you're getting more exercise than you normally would be. So that means you can indulge a little bit more and it won't hurt you as bad. Or, that's at least what I tell myself when I'm packing away a Mickey's Premium Ice Cream bar at the parks...

mindflipper - I'm also interested to know your opinion of the fabled Dole Whip. I'm another vet that has never tried one and plans to in May.

Yes, we do try to eat healthy (more the DW then I) and we make time to visit the gym while at Disney. But vacation calories do not count .

Mindflipper, so how was it, how was your first dole whip? :D

Dolewhips have become my wife's must have dessert. She is lactose intolerant and can not eat ice cream, but DoleWhips are not made from milk. Our last trip, we were bundled up, and she still went for a DW. Well worth the try.

Boilercouple: sounds like we need to make a trip to the Sci-Fi diner next time you're there. You got me wanting the burger & shakes! Another good place for it is the Plaza Restaurant just off Main Street in the MK.

My first impression of the Dole Whip Float was dampened by the fact I had to wait 18+ minutes in line for it and had just spent most of the day in an over-crowded busy park. I would have liked more pineapple juice and to have the soft-serve ice cream actually floating in it - but as far as the taste, it was execellent!

Wow 18+ minutes, that is too crazy.

The DW and I ate at the Plaza for first time last December and we loved it. Your on, we all need to make a trip to either Sci-FI or the plaza.

Also, there is a self serve Dole Whip station at Capt. Cooks in the Poly :mickey:

Our must do dining places are Boma, Tusker House & Ohana.

Ohana is a really good start to the vacation w/ dinner & fireworks.

The San Angel Inn used to be at the top of my "must do" list, but since they changed the menu it has moved way down on my list. The Trails End Buffet has been at or near the top of my list for years.

Maybe you will like the new restaurant in Mexico when it comes out...it's going to be 1/2 counter service and 1/2 table service w/ the decor of a hacienda

I'm sure that we will give it a try when it reopens. Does anyone know when the refurb should be finished?

Wow, can't believe I missed this thread!
Truth is, we are trying to plan a trip to meet up with the Boilers again. And of course, we're expecting you to be there since you're close enough to be able to make it on less notice, in other words you can go almost anytime.
.....at least I think I remember you saying you lived in Florida....?

We've had quite a few favorites over the years....Jiko, Artist Point, more recently: Yak & Yeti!

Is there anyone else who goes for the EPCOT Food & Wine Festival? What are your favorite booths? Despite hot weather, I have to go for Canada's cheese soup and quesadillas in Mexico. Still leary about some of the fish samples when it's too hot outside....

Storyteller's Cafe. I forgot how much I missed that place and their corn chowder.
