Need help - travel to Universal
Yeah, yeah, I know ... I need to come up with a way to get from Port Orleans Riverside to the Universal parks. Rental car is out of the question. Looking for something that will work before the parks open and something (not necessarily the same) for latenight. Any recommendations? Thanks!

I would check with the Hotels close to property. They have shuttles that run to all the "Parks" in the area. You may be able to pay for a taxi to one of the close to disney hotels and then take their shuttle to Universal(I hope you have a good reason for going....IT's not worth more than a day once in a life time!!)

She's got the idea, the last visit we had we could no longer trade into Key West since the RCI takeover, so we were looking at other trasnspo options, since we almost had to stay off property. I found that a Cab is actually cheaper than riding a shuttle, and the cab works at your schedule.

I would have to say that the only thing I could think of is the Mears taxi service. I don't think that they cost a lot and they are always available at every hour.

The hotels at DTD have shuttles that run to Universal. You could take a Disney bus to DTD and then walk to one of the hotels to take the Universal Shuttle. I don't know if they require payment or identification, but I am sure for a minimal fee the hotel will provide you with a pass (if there is one).
But just as a word of warning, Universal sucks. It is not worth the money, the only good things they have are the thrill rides. Pack your own lunch and snacks and don't expect the Disney-level of customer service.

We just took a taxi each time. They drop you off and pick up across the street by the universal parking garage. When we went in the am we left from ASMU, we had them drop us off at DTD on the return since I wanted to pick up a couple of items there. Its cheaper to go from DTD if that matters....
I think it was like $30 + tip each way, I think.....
Just have to agree that we were NOT impressed with Universal... the food wasnt very good and the empty park seemed kinda creepy. We were there on the Saturday before Labor Day, the wait for the hulk was 10 min.
I would just spend our time on the island if we ever got free tickets again. The universal main part was all ride simulations, after Shrek, Jimmy Neutron, Simpsons I wanted a real RIDE! We did the ratings for a tv show and each got the $10 for ratings. We used that towards the cab cost....

Thing I didn't like about Universal is that instead of a FAST-PASS system like WDW has you have to BUY a separate "fast-pass"-like option that can only be used once for each attraction. There's a limited amount they sell for each day; so, depending upon how quickly it sells, the price for it goes up as the availability decreases!

This is new. Any ideas (1) which hotel would be closest and (2) how would I contact to make sure?agingerbugg wrote:The hotels at DTD have shuttles that run to Universal. Our current ideas seem to be either Lynx from DTD to Sea World and iRide to Universal Boulevard, walk the rest of the way; or just get a cab. The second option appears to be the only way to go late at night. Any idea how long the iRide takes to get from SW to US?
The tickets (along with most of the trip) were given to us ... so we get in for only the price of the transportation there, nyah. All of you wrote:Universal is bad.

Yeah, well, the last time I was there (this past spring) the tickets were free - some promotion I got from Universal in the mail and it sucked. They stopped me as I was leaving the park for those survey things, I told them they fell short of Disney and that was the reason they had to give tickets away.IMFearless wrote:The tickets (along with most of the trip) were given to us ... so we get in for only the price of the transportation there, nyah. All of you wrote:Universal is bad.

Here is a Mear fare estimator: http://www.mearstransportation.com/Taxi ... 32819-7601&
Seems to be from Epcot to Universal $32ish....
Looks like Mears still has the shuttle service: http://www.mearstransportation.com/AttractionTrans.htm
You could contact them and see what that cost is but I am sure it has set departure times. With the cab it was up to us when to leave so we went that way.

Uber in these days is I think your best option, if you happen to have a group, atcbuses.comIMFearless wrote: ↑Dec Sun 27, 2009 8:16 pmYeah, yeah, I know ...
