Actually, they dropped the "resort" again back in 2009. It's just "Disneyland Paris" again now. The parks being "Disneyland Park" (or "Parc Disneyland" depending on whether you're reading a French sign or the English ones) and "Walt Disney Studios Park".

Disneyland Paris has always been odd with its name. When it first opened in 1992 it was "Euro Disney Resort" (with the park called "Euro Disneyland"). Then in 1994, they changed it to "Euro Disney Resort Paris", just in case you couldn't remember where it was (and called the park "Euro Disneyland Paris"). That lasted a year until it changed to just "Disneyland Paris" for both the whole resort and the park in 1995.

That lasted until 2002 when Walt Disney Studios Park opened and they renamed the entire place "Disneyland Resort Paris" and the main park "Disneyland Park" or "Parc Disneyland" (again, depending on which language signs/map you're reading). And finally, in 2009 they dropped the "resort", going back to just "Disneyland Paris".

Disney Village wasn't left out of the fun either. From 1992 until 1997 it was called "Festival Disney". The whole thing is documented here in a nice table: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Disneyland ... me_changes

In other news... 41 days until I'm there again for a few days :D
Wow ~ I hadn't realized they had changed so many times
I do hope you are planning on taking some photos and sharing a trip report with us when you return home ;) :D[/quote]

Photos, yes. Report, probably not. I always fail to write one so I'm not even going to promise one this time ;)

They'll be on my Flickr sometime after I get back: http://www.flickr.com/photos/disneyandy/

(Photos from my WDW trip in December are the last ones I uploaded there. If you look in "Sets", there's some from DLP in 2010 and 2007 in there, as well as 2006, 2010 (and of course 2011) WDW trips.)

Go to wherever Guest Services is and find my friend for me. :D That's where he works at DLP.

I want to visit so bad, it's just the airfare that would do me in... my admission is free, my accommodations are free, I'd have my discounts on food and merch, but not on plane tickets! If I could find a decent deal I'd be there in an instant... I wonder how long the 20th celebration will last, because I seriously could potentially swing it in about six months or so.

So yeah, I got back yesterday from DLP. I've not been through the photos yet, but I have uploaded the short videos I took:

Firstly, here's the multi-lingual rope-drop announcement from Wednesday morning: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W9nlM2DAKmw&hd=1

Secondly, here's the 20th Anniversary Celebration Train (basically, the train makes its way to the front hub where the characters scatter and do meet and greet for a while before getting back on the train and leaving again): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iDX6nT780kM&hd=1

And finally, this is the animatronic dragon that lives under the castle (which has been there 20 years and still works better than Expedition Everest's Yeti ;)): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y4UbSX2ipAU&hd=1

I'll upload some photos soon, when I get round to sorting through them.

Thanks for sharing these links, Andy. I'm getting even more excited now! :ccat:

Do you have any suggestions about where to eat? Seems like there are a lot of options!

I have a quick update: we've changed our plans and are going for 2 days, 1 night. I got a deal at the Thomas Cooke Explorer's Hotel and the price for 2 days of tickets plus hotel was only about $100 more than 1 day plus the VIP FP. 2 days at DLP vs. 1 day? That was an easy decision!!!

We ate at the Earl of Sandwich at Disney Village a lot  (Seriously, putting that place a two minute walk from the park gates is dangerous!)

If you want an idea of what's on the menus, take a look at http://www.dlrpmagic.com/planning/dinin ... ant-menus/

Bear in mind that the restaurants appear to close quite early compared to the park (some as early as 7pm, even when the park was open until 11). They usually have some kind of sign outside with the hours on, and they aren't all open every day. Whether that was because we were there on a quieter week, I'm not sure, but bear it in mind.

We stayed at the Explorer's, too.

Be prepared for *very* packed busses at park closing time. When we were there, Dreams was showing at 11 (park closing time). They pack the busses at DLP a lot more than they did at WDW in December (and that's saying something!) ISTR they run until midnight every 15-20 minutes or so.

If you're getting the VEA shuttle from the airport to the hotel, note that only 3 a day actually go to the Explorer's. If you're not on one of them, get off at the train/bus station and take the bus from there to the hotel (that's what we did - it was quicker than waiting for the bus that actually goes to the Explorers, since all busses go to the Disney hotels and the train/bus station). I you're getting the train from the airport, you'll arrive at the train/bus station anyway, so will also take the shuttle bus (from bus stop 54, which goes to Explorers and the other hotels in that area), which is the first one (closest to the parks) on the opposite side to the train station.

Erm.. what else? Oh, they still have a problem at DLP with dodgy street vendors in the plaza between the parks/train station/Disney Village. It's a real pain at times. There's often some that'll approach you to sign some petition thing - Don't do it - They'll let you sign it, then ask you for money. Best thing to do is just ignore them

Oh yeah, and DLP now use X-Ray machines for bag checks at both parks and Disney Village. Seriously. (Well, with the exception of park opening times, which is much busier, so they have people manually checking like at WDW then, too).

And one more thing, keep an eye out when you're in the last part of the queue for "it's a small world". They've still got the Christmas banners up. (They say "Seasons Greetings" and have snowflakes on them.) Yeah, it's June. And they appear to have forgotten to take them down.

Other than that, have a great time! :)

Andy.

(Yeah, yeah, I still need to sort my photos out. I've been busy!)

I was all excited that you might have put your pictures up acp! But, it was interesting reading what you had to say anyhow. That's amusing that they apparently forgot to take down the Christmas banners

Hah, not yet. But since I'm in a good mood, here's a couple of straight-off-the-camera teasers :P

Castle during the day: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/19263966/dlp-12-1.jpg

Castle during Dreams: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/19263966/dlp-12-2.jpg

Duffy took refuge inside the shop that sells Duffy stuff while it was raining and found himself and a mini-Mickey. He spent a little while mimicking the animatronic Duffy's actions, then pretended to be a statue until some kids came up to him, when he jumped back into life. It was quite amusing to watch :) https://dl.dropbox.com/u/19263966/dlp-12-3.jpg

Nice photos of the castle! I was wondering if it was raining or chilly since I saw some people with ponchos on in the fireworks picture.
I suppose I will have to exercise some more patience...sigh... ;)
