How tragic! Seems like incompetence and carelessness are not limited to the Monorail management at WDW. Poor guy....

Our prayers are with his family. Somebody explain to me why Disney has shorten training for it CM's?

Because it's cheaper.Jacca5660 wrote:Our prayers are with his family. Somebody explain to me why Disney has shorten training for it CM's?
I'm surprised they don't have a tag system in place that makes it so that the operator knows the ride cannot be started.

Very true. I am shocked that Disney doesn't have a marker system in place to alert people if there is somebody in a place where they can be injured if the ride were to be turned on.Wizzard419 wrote:Because it's cheaper.Jacca5660 wrote:Our prayers are with his family. Also he was not a CM, but a subcontractor. Should be an interesting story to watch unfold.

There is a thing in maintenance called Lockout, Tagout. I just don't think Disney uses this procedure for cleaning. It's sad that it seems Disney thinks it's cheaper to pay a claim then to train the CM's correctly!

He wasn't actually a CM. He was contract cleaner. Not that it makes a difference.

I would imagine they use the standard warnings that they use here and in japan (vocal alerts that inform everyone the mechaninsm/s are being started), so it could have also simply been an accident and the person didn't realize the force/danger they were about to encounter.
