The pirates one, if I recall (it might have been HK) already has patents filed for some of the ride tech that allows the floating boats to enter a hidden mechanism and move sideways around a fixed scene. Sort of like a combo of the original Journey into Imagination and the original version of the jaws ride at USO (which broke beyond repair and resulted in a lawsuit against the ridemaker)

I should note, they do also file a ton of patents for stuff that is developed but not used, such as the interactive cakes using projectors.

I can see a ton of the stuff developed by Imagineers getting the, "Yeaaaa, about all that fancy technology, NOPE. Here's a Lego block and ten inches of string." from accounting.
