darn now THAT will really be when china becomes number 1 in the world
But at least there will be something that is made in the USA in China instead of the other way around
Actually, it's still made in China - American theme-park built in China by China. I don't think they allow foreign labor.

Would be funny if you lifted an item up in the store and said "Made in the United States" underneath, but we know that's not going to happen.

It's rare enough in the "real" world, much less at Disney

Back to the topic at hand...

...has anyone seen any recent news anywhere that Disneyland Shanghai is still a go, and is it going to quietly fade away?

Disney and More posted what appears to be an early piece of concept art. It's gonna to be incredibly different than any other previous Disneyland incarnation.

Nice to see that the project is still progressing forward even if we can't tell much about it yet. From previous articles, I know China was hoping for another HKDL but I know Disney wanted to go with a different format...

I'm sure Disney is wishing at this moment that they could just move HKDL up to Shanghai. It's not supposed to be doing that well.

It might take awhile to get going ~ look at how long it took Disneyland Paris...

It seemed like HKDL was built pretty quickly. I think DLS could as well...

I wonder if they are still using the plan of "build 3/4 now and have the last 25% visibly under construction" as a means of getting people to come back after the first visit.

I think you open with a basic park at first just to start generating operational cash flow ASAP; then you start the expansions. When it first opens I don't think they will need to worry at first about getting return visitors as much as when the novelty of it wears off.
