Paris Tower of Terror - Nearly there!

Post by acp » Dec Sat 01, 2007 6:48 am

So here's a few updates on the progress of Paris' Tower of Terror.

Back in June when I was there, it looked like this:

Now, it looks like this (Scroll down for Tower photos):
http://joel.at.dlp.online.fr/dlp/20071121/

Earlier this week, the construction walls came down round much of the area:

During Cast Member Previews, a sneaky CM clearly managed to sneak a camera in. Check out the view from the top!

And yesterday, they released some official photos from the lobby and boiler room.

It's looking good. Annual Passholder previews start next week. :)

Oh, and whilst we're at WDSP, Stitch Live! is also taking shape:

Annual Passholder previews are going on. ThemeParkReview has some fantastic photos of the Paris Tower and a couple of the new Hollywood Boulevard area.

At last The Hollywood Tower Hotel had opened its doors, we had waited for it almost 6 years (it should be built and opened at the same time with Walt Disney Studios Park in march 2002!).

An attraction by Disney: full of details. Really amazing. I love it! :)

Marketing had not begin yet (I read april), so it's the moment to ride it without queue (5 minutes) because not many knows that it's opened (expect the fans of course)!

I brought to you few pictures by night taken yesterday (names starting by "08012008"):

It has. Some Disney DVDs in the UK include a trailer for it, all the UK travel brochures for DLRP are advertising it, and I saw a TV advertisement for it the other day. I'd say Marketing began a while back.

Granted though, these all said "Coming soon", but nontheless they're certainly not keeping it quiet :)

I meant the fact that it's already open, the official opening with VIPs and journalists... And I can talk only about France ;)

Looks very cool and a lot like the WDW one, especially in the lobby. Except for one important (to me) difference - why were there no Stitch in Bellhop outfits for sale at WDW when I was there in December? *grabby hands*

I'll have to see if I can find one on ebay sometime. He's a cute little devil in his bellhop outfit (even if I find it strange that he has one  ).

Interesting - I didn't know it was supposed to be a DCA copy. Granted I don't know that I've ever looked at pictures of the inside of the DCA one; maybe they -all- look similar in the lobbies...

I read that in fact it's the DCA one which is a copy of Paris one, because the Paris one was designed and ready to built for the WDS in 2002, but - due to financial difficulties? - we had to wait 2008 :(

The plot thickens. I really don't know all that much about DP/WDS (as if that's not obvious ^^). That's a heck of a long wait for financial difficulties. :( On the plus side, maybe they were able to add a little newer tech to it? Or is it really completely the same as DCA? Anyone been on both?

DisBeamer: I've been on neither, if that helps ;)

As an interesting sidenote, the Paris tower is the only one you can walk all the way around. It doesn't have a backstage side, so all sides of it are themed. (I noted when working Fantasmic! at MGM one night that the theming stops when it gets below the treeline that you can see from outside the park. Quite amused me the first time I was back there :) )

Paris has had financial difficulties from the start, as we all know. Right now it's actually starting to recover, so I think we'll see some interesting developments in the near future at Disneyland Resort Paris. The studios does need some TLC, and the Toon Studios, tower and (to a point) the new Stitch Encounter that's coming soon (Think Turtle Talk with Crush, but with Stitch instead), it could be the sort of thing the studios needs. Until recently, there was actually very few attractions there, and compared to other parks, there still is.

Having said all that, I still believe that Disneyland Paris has the nicest Disneyland Park of them all, it's much prettier, has a more fairytale style castle. The only downside is the atmosphere created by the guests. This however has been talked about before in other threads.

As for the "version" of the tower, from what I've heard/read, it's identical to DCA, however has French narration, and has most likely got slightly updated ride systems, since the Tower rides were designed to be upgradable, it may well be that the DCA version has the same version of the software on it, etc.

Ah ha, an unbiased opinion then.

I'm not a big fan of those interactive talk attractions, but that sounds really cool... </Stitch fan>

Interesting. I'm glad they get a tower in DLP, anyway, even if it's not quite a unique one. I suppose the crossover between DCA and DLP guests is fairly low anyway (at least I would guess it is...).

yes the plans were first for france but we sell it to california..; (that explain why the studios were empty at the opening! :P

i didn't know you can't turn all over the others tower.

the lobby have a bg flower vase inside, and a table we tea cups, and another with a poker game,
and on a sofa there's a mickey plush like the one the little acress girl got in the elevator.

did the actress is someone from the imageeners familly or did they cast little girls?
