OK, I've gone through most of the FAQs - don't have time for all.

Why is some music only available at specific times - and do I have to be online at that time to hear / download it?

Since Disney is family-friendly, it would be nice to avoid frustrations of "how" and "when".

Well, yes. This being a radio station, there is only one request stream for everyone to listen to - and every single request from every single user is therefore played to the whole audience. The "time limits" are in place to avoid certain tracks being played over and over again because that would pretty much kill the variety of the stream. Just like on your local radio station, where they don't play the same song twice an hour.

You don't have to be online when they get available for requesting again - but there is a chance someone else will request it (and therefore block it again for some time) when you're not. And in that case, the song will most likely play when you're not there.
However, even if you are online at the exact time the track is available again, it is still queued in the last position of the current queue. Which can be pretty long, depending on the time of day and the day of the week.

Ok, Hi, I'm new here. I was attracted to the site because I search for some of the ambient background music that Disney uses, in particular, of the old EPCOT Center park.
Is there an area that explains how to even HEAR what is being played? I am not having much luck in my search of course it may be right in front of my face and I don't see it.

you need to go back to the main page and hover over teh stream names, and choose the format you prefer... wma, a stream for winamp....

Okay, this ages me. Working summer theater back in 1984 or 1985, when "Money for Nothing" was a big hit song, and it was played on the radio, many stations in southern maine (Berwick Playhouse was where I was working) would play it at LEAST twice and hour. We could listen to it on one station, change to another, and usually had it again in two or three songs. With come good dial flipping I think we got it 5 or 6 times in an hour!

Back to original poster...I like the method here, with the "waiting" period. You should read the thread about tracks that people dread, and get a sense of why the time limit thing is good!

Don't know, maybe specialised radio stations which are limited to one genre of music still do it, but in general, there's too many popular songs to fit one twice in an hour...

Here at SSR, we simply don't have enough streams/bandwidth to make that much repetition possible...

It was an odd summer. I think we got 4 or 5 stations in the southern maine area that played current tunes. There was a good 2 week period (out of 8) where that song was on all the stations, all the time! Freaky. But we had it memorized pretty well, whether we wanted to or not!

I do like the current SSR system - it works well. If I really, really, REALLY want to hear something, Saturday or Sunday morning is very good, as the queue is just about empty!

There was a lot of neat history with that video - computing power, budget, actors and actresses...ahh, memories. I think. Hard to remember.

Another option that you may find easier, on the top of the page there should be "Listen" option. That page will list the streams and various formats without hovering over the hot spots. Figure out which format works for you and you should get tunes!

And, it's likely that the first option () will work for Windows with the Winamp application, possibly other apps and maybe android (I use the XiiaLive app). The second () may do well for Windows and possibly Windows Mobile devices (I imagine, don't have one to test though) and the third () should probably work for Apple devices (again, not an Apple kinda guy so I haven't tried it).
