Times Played / Requested: does anybody care?

While I am in the process of upgrading the site/station I'm also looking for ways to streamline. Does anybody care how many times a track has been played or requested?

I remember when I was coding, I was thinking that a person might not request something because they can see it's been played/requested a lot. I've noticed, people request what they want, regardless. If I remove these columns, I'll still leave in the top 50.

Does anybody look at these?

Would it help to sort by most played?

When logging on to listen I just request whatever I'm in the mood to hear.
My track selection is never based on the number of times it has been requested or played. Its just an idea, what if tracks where sorted by rated each track by its popularity. Tracks would be given stars, 5 being most popular and 1 least, you get the idea. Maybe this is to much coding to be worth it I don't know, I'm not an expert when it comes to hypertest markup language. Hope this helped. :)

As long as you keep the Top 50 list, I don't usually look at how many times a track is played.

Its nice to see how many times a song has been requested, however i will
request it, regardless of how many times it has been played.

That's what I figured, people will request what they want.

It'll be removed during my revamp of the player.

Good call... besides, even if "Mama Don't Whup Little Buford" has been played 100 times, sometimes you still need to hear it ;-)

I voted in favor of the requested/played numbers just because sometimes it's interesting to see that info. But if it makes your life easier, I could live without it pretty easily.

Yeah - whatever helps make it easier to maintain/update is best. I just go for what I like, it is interesting to see but not a major thing...

Doesn't matter to me, the data doesn't need to be calculated.

To me, if nobody is using it, it's wasted screen space.

You could always make it optional.. It's a few lines of extra code, but will satisfy all

Ahh, good point.

It would be nice to have a "when next available for play" column so that we know how long it will be before we can request a track again.

Yeah it doesn't matter to me how many times something has been played. All that really matters is if I have the points when I can request it next. That would be something cool to have.

I would agree with the others who say they request what they feel like hearing. That sums up my take. If it makes it easier on you, go ahead and remove that feature.
