no, the only way to get more points for requests is to participate in the forums. If you don't have enough points for a request, and you don't want to participate in the forums, you can usually ask people in the chat to request something for you. They're usually nice about requesting things for regulars, so show up every so often and have fun...

You know, this brings up an interesting point...
Sub, what if somehow you could set up a "pay per point" system? Say like? $.50 per 50 points or something (I'm just using this for sake of arguement). It might alleviate "useless" posts here on the boards for those who really have nothing to say but just want to request a track, as well as would generate a bit of money for the site. As long as you don't keep the price something outrageous...Or does that still count as "selling" the disney tracks?

It could work into a donation thing - I know that was brought up to add capacity and this way donors are rewarded with more than just a bigger and better station.

When I came up with the points system, it occured to me that it would be a very easy way to make money off the site. I have talked to many sources regarding charging for the site. It's a very gray area. I'm told I can't charge for service but I can take donations. I'm only guessing, but if people donate for points than that's buying the service from me. I don't know where the green line stops and the red starts.Shinku wrote:Sub, what if somehow you could set up a "pay per point" system? I'd love to figure out a way to make money off this site, money is good. But, knowing about Disney's Nazi lawyers I'm scared to set anything up.
Right now, the upkeep of this site is not much. I don't mind paying for it. But, I'm already starting to see stress on the servers and such. I'm preparing for upgrades, which will cost money. At that time, I might start asking for donations.
I do agree about people posting for points. Overall I haven't seen people abusing it that much. Those people that are I've talked to.

Sub, you're an affiliate of SaveDisney.com, right? And SD.com is owned by Roy Disney, who is still a part of the WDC, right? So far we haven't been shut down, even though he knows of this site. Maybe, just maybe, we can email him and ask what would be acceptable for the donations/purchases. I don't think it would hurt...

I didn't talk to Roy Disney. It was just the web admin that added me.

I don't think it'd be a problem to allow users to purchase points. They're not paying for the music; they're paying for a function of this site.
