Ballad of Thunder Mountain?

Post by Brian845 » May Wed 04, 2011 7:46 am

Does anyone know who sings the Ballad of Thunder Mountain? It sounds a bit like Steve Martin, and since he also plays the banjo it make me wonder if he did this song.

Google apparently isn't doing me much justice since I can't find the answer but hopefully someone has the answer around here.

Used to be able to find out this kind of stuff on Don Bertino's old webpage before he passed away...

The only thing I can come up with is that it was performed by the "Big Thunder Mountain Balladeers" Maybe they were a group formed by Disney CM??? No clue. Odd that there isn't more about it.

Likewise, it was all that I could find, but no individual names.

The spoken part does sound like Steve Martin, but not so much the singing part. Of course I am notoriously bad at listening for voiceovers since I thought the Cranium Command general was Robin Williams and it wasn't him at all :(

Disney did so many daytime cartoon shows back then that I wouldn't be surprised if General Knowledge wasn't voiced by someone Disney regularly used to supply voice talents to those shows...

The singer doesn't sound to Steve Martin to me. I still have no idea of who it is, but it would guess its not a familiar name. I can't imagine Disney hired any big talent to sing that song. Look at all the songs from EPCOT when it opened - no major musical talent was hired to sing those songs.
