Happy New Year Everyone! Like many of you I'm sure, I saw "Tangled" recently and I thought it was great. One part I found particularly fun was the musical number "I've got a dream" and it got me thinking about my childhood (and adulthood) dreams and wanting to pursue them again. I bet more than a few of you here currently work or have worked for Disney at one point or another but I bet many more of you (me included) had or still have a dream to make a contribution to the magic.
So answer these questions please...
What were/are your Disney dreams?
Did you go for it?
Did you succeed?
What if anything are you doing to get you closer to your goal?
Is there anything any of us on the forum can do to help you toward your goal?

Since I posted it, I'll go first...
Q. What were/are your Disney dreams?
A. I've always wanted to be an Imagineer- particularly on the conceptual end. I wanted to come up with ideas for rides and attractions, write the shows and visually design them.
Q. Did you go for it?
A. Yes. I have training as an animation artist from a school where many Disney people studied.
Q. Did you succeed?
A. Not in a major way...yet. I've done some small freelance work for the Disney company on the artistic end which I consider a start.
Q. What if anything are you doing to get you closer to your goal?
A. I've been developing my portfolio and looking for inroads to Imagineering. It's been difficult but not impossible.
Q. Is there anything any of us on the forum can do to help you toward your goal?
A. If anyone has contact info of someone I can talk to at Imagineering, that'd be awesome.
Now I want to hear yours...

Awesome job working toward your dream ronatie! I've always wanted to work in the Imagineering department of Disney as well

I interviewed twice but both times, the jobs available did not fit my criteria and home circumstances did not favor a big move

Haven't given up working there someday, or at least living close enough to visit frequently!

What were/are your Disney dreams?
my ultimate dream is Meg Crofton's job but I doubt THAT... but I do want a corporate position at Disney World. Hence all the internships I am doing to work my way up.
Did you go for it?
I am now! Two college programs, a recruiting job, and then (hopefully) a professional internship
Did you succeed?
doing well thus far!
What if anything are you doing to get you closer to your goal?

What were/are your Disney dreams?
I wanted to be a Disney animator when I was growing up (just prior to the second golden years)...also wanted to be an Imagineer later on
Did you go for it?
I stuck with my art...but realized it wouldn't pay the bills so I went the computer route...still love to draw
Did you succeed?
no...but maybe one day I can circle back around on the Imagineer side...or could do some computer work for Disney down the road
What if anything are you doing to get you closer to your goal?
not too much

My Disney dream is to have my whole family there at one time! That would be over 60 of us. Saying that, it's also my Disney nightmare!

It took a few months but I'm glad more people are finally chiming in on this topic! Those are all great Disney dreams. It seems that moral support is what most of us asked for in terms of helping to achieve their Disney goals. That's fine though because I think that helps a lot more than people realize. Please keep this discussion going. We're all in this together!

I've come to the sad realization that I probably can't ever work for the mouse, since I would probably never earn enough money there to live decently, but I need to come up with a career that I enjoy, that makes enough money, to live close by and visit frequently
