Does anyone keep their connection all the time?

I just wanted to ask if someone is constantly connected to the station. Because it could be in the middle of the night on both costs and there are atleast 5 people connected. I know that it's the internet and anyone in the world can listen to it, but I would expect that there would be some time with 1-2 people or even no one listening. Just had to ask.

I used to keep connected for long periods, like for a couple of days. But I don't do that as much now.

I'm Logged in all the time... I think.

It's easier for me because I have dial-up.

Not 24/7, but I often will leave the house or my office and keep it playing for a short jaunt out somewhere.

I might do that once I get this set up at work. I have to get our tech guy to open the port or something (according to what everyone says) because right now I can only listen when I am at home. And unfortunately sometimes I have to cook and do some laundry, so listening at home all the time is not an option.

There are several of us who run relays for the site. That means that we add slots for more people to listen in. Each of us who run a relay has to have some way to connect to the server. The relays will take 1 slot each (for each relay that's up). It's probably one of the relays you're seeing, or someone actually listening...

And I do believe that the Back-up server takes 1 slot also. 3 relays and 1 back-up. thats 4 slots filled

It's the relays that are constantly connected. Also, some people listen from europe.

You're right, that is interesting.

I am usually always connected to the station. I am always logged on, too. Whenever the station is turned off, I will turn it back on and listen to it. If I go to bed, or leave the room or my house, I will just simply turn the volume off. When I get back, I turn the volume back on and there it is. I always leave it on because I love the station sooo much, no matter what is playing.

That explains it. I just found it weird that there were people connected to the system without actually being tracked on the site. I envy anyone who has broadband since they can listen all the time. (I still have dial-up  )

Was it just a weird occurance that there were so few people on the system for the past hour. It got to as low as 4 (i think) and those were all on the lower stations. Interesting how after I bring this up that there is a dramatic drop in numbers from 24hrs ago.

Yeah, I came on the other day, and every single spot was full, and I couldn't listen to the radio because I had been kicked off because my WMP had closed :(
