Subsonic Radio

I would like to play subsonic as background music in my glass shop. Am I allowed to stream in a business setting?

I think as long as you are not charging people to listen it would be fine. It would be nice if you told people about Subsonic radio.

Isn't that what you HAVE been doing???

I don't see a reason why that should be an issue so long as you are not charging people to listen or are ripping the stream. I would advise you double check with one of the admins.

I definately don't charge people haha. As for telling people about subsonic.... have you ever seen the look on some peoples face when you say I listen to the music and sounds from Disney? The only people I tell are ones who notice the song thats playing. "Did he just say please stand clear of the doors? I recognize that?... then I tell them.

I love hearing about people getting creative with the SR stream. Like playing it on their phone in the parks or hooking it up to their wireless system at home so it plays out of every speaker. I just love it!

SR is such a small niche. I don't usually tell people I run this site because people don't usually understand what or why.

We so totally do that! We have a patch cord from our laptop that goes to the surround sound system, and we play SR all over the house!

As for this being a small niche, I have mixed feelings about that. On the one hand, I like it small because the forums are like a group of close friends. We've all gotten to know each other, and many have actually met in person. With more people coming on board all the time, you kind of lose that close-knit family feeling. But on the other hand, we love this place so much we just have to share it with others, and we're excited when someone new comes on and says how great it is here. Makes us proud. Quite a conundrum, eh?

I listen to SR at work, in the car, at home. Whenever and wherever I can! I have had co-workers ask what I'm listening to (they know I'm a Disney nut, the music choice just cements that ) Thanks for all the hard work that goes on behind the scenes to make this escape possible!

I am so glad to hear I am not the only one who hooks up the phone to the surround sound to stream it through 6.1 THX surround that we have in the family room when I am home alone studying. I am still a huge fan of the streaming while driving through the AUX cable.

Last year I actually streamed it in the hotel room through the iHome that was in our resort room!

We might be a small niche, but we are a very close and tight knit niche. I am proud to say I have met three other members from this site in person and have spoken to numerous others on the phone, in IM, or chat.

Thank you, I'm really excited I am allowed to play it for lots of people. I have a 12 speaker multi-room system that makes my house a little piece of Disney world.

In some corporations it would be a no-no. Where I work prohibits streaming because, according to them, it clogs up the bandwith if everyone decided to do it. There are very limited reasons in which streaming would be acceptable.

If you own your business, you're your own boss. It shouldn't be a problem unless you can fire yourself for doing it.

Ahh yes, working for the man. My boss is me and he has not placed any limits on bandwidth yet.

That's fun that you play it on speakers for people!

I enjoy having it play at my desk.
