This was posted over in the iPhone thread:

It's simple, easy and free

1) Download and install a free app called droidlive.
2) Open your browser and go to the Subsonic website.
3) Open any of the streams and droidlive will play it.

The app also includes a scroll of the song information.
Looks like a free way to stream the music on androids.

can I ask a stupid question?...is the android app streaming via a wifi connection or via the phone (using your minutes) or how? The reason I'm asking is I'm looking to get a new cellphone and I would love to be able to listen to Subsonic Radio at work but my office has blocked our wifi access. So I'm wondering if I get a Droid if can still access Subsonic Radio without the wifi.

What I have been able to figure out through the iPhone is that streaming music counts towards your data. Make sure you have an unlimited data plan and be careful when upgrading with AT&T. Starting Monday they will no longer be offering an unlimited data plan.

I just saw that little blurb in the paper! I'm thinking that little change will catch some people unawares
I'm thinking I will be hanging onto my unlimited data plan for the near future...

I have a moto Droid from verizon. I love it and being able to play subsonic anywhere, like in the car, at the park, work is awesome. :D

I just uploaded "A Online Radio" for Android and am streaming Subsonic as I write this. Nice app and it is free. I am on ATT and just upgraded to get a Motorola Blur. I am grandfathered into the unlimited plan. :ccat:

I'm running StreamFurious on my X. Installed it from the marketplace, went to subsonicradio.com and clicked on one of the streams and BLAM - the audio is rolling :)

I just got a Droid and I'm using xiialive to stream Subsonic radio. I love it! I now can listen to Subsonic at work! I'm new to Smartphone type cellphones so I really appreciate everyone's contribution to this thread so getting Subsonic radio on my Droid was a snap, instead of a frustrating experince.

I am also using the xiialive app for Android and it works perfectly. I haven't tried the other apps but I would recommend this app to listen to subsonic radio. I don't think it matters if you're using the data plan or wifi. There are other great radio stations on this app as well. It has my thumbs up! :goofy:
