Individual Park Streams?

Post by MomPaula » May Mon 03, 2010 10:48 am

I would really like a Disneyland (California) Park stream. The schedule for this is only available when I can't listen, and the "Lands" on Thursday run so early that I always end up missing Main Street. The request line doesn't work for me; I would have to get up at 3 am to request what I want to hear (due to time zones), and I am tired of listening to WDW music all day long. Is it possible to make a stream for each park? or would it be way too much work.

I'm sure Subsonic or RDeacon will explain this in better detail than me, but until then, let me see if I can to save some time:

The request lines are on subsonic servers; the other streams are maintained by Jcondirewolf I believe. Adding additional streams are expensive - and, as we're all basically free-loaders and pay no fees to contribute to the expenses around - adding additional streams is not possible at the current time. Maybe the easier option would be to ask if Subsonic or RDeacon can re-arrange the schedule in order to make it easier to hear some of the blocks of music?

You pretty much hit the nail on the head there, mindflipper, but I know either subsonic or rdeacon will explain it better than us all.

Would be nice but as the others have said... not really feasible.

We know there are problems with the amount of requests in the queue. It's unfortunate that the lists get so long and we have thought of options on how to make the site better. Right now, it's simple a matter of time. We've gotten busy with regular life and our own little projects that SR doesn't get the attention it deserves.

As far as freeloading and fees, this is my choice. SR will ALWAYS be free. Mostly because that's the way I like it, but also because I don't want any legal issues saying I make money off of Disney's assets. Every single competing site has had problems with the RIAA and other Legalities. I've been up for 6 years without an issue. Only once have I taken monetary donations and that was to pay someone back for donating a very expensive server to the site. All that donated money (we raised over $1k! Thanks again everybody) went directly back to the guy whom donated of the server.

Because SR is free I try to run on minimal costs. This has made our server setup quite complicated. The site runs through four to five different locations to get information and music to you. We don't like the way it's set up as it's not very efficient and constantly try to think of ways to make it better... for free.

All that said, there are no plans to add new dedicated streams to the site.

And that's OK by me!!!! I am so grateful for everything you guys do to keep this site running! This site is the way I can enjoy the parks when I get out there myself...and I love the people here! There's nothing like chatting with fellow Disney fans from all over the world and all walks of life who share the same passion you do! With so much negativity in the world, it's nice to know there is somewhere I can go to lose myself in fun and laughter. Thanks again!!! :D
