js basically is warning us to be careful with the double posting.

Yes, I "double posted" the other day...not realizing it was such a big deal on the site (Especially since I'm still kind of new to the site) I signed on later and found a reply that asked me to limit everything to one major post. Now today, I sign on and there's the "announcement."
Talk about overkill. It will affect how I post in the future. I don't want to cause issues so I'll just post less. Sorry for all the trouble.

I believe it's the usual 'reminder' we get when we have a wave of new posters, updated to include the weird emailer error-but-your-post-goes-through-anyway error. It's caused a lot of double posting lately (from what I've seen, anyway).
@napastoy - I don't think you upset anyone. This kind of announcement reminder thingie comes out every time we get a bunch of new people. They're kind of strict on the double posting/multi-posting replies back to back thing because posting is how you get points to request stuff. People have abused it in the past (not saying you were), so they keep a tight leash on it, that's all. Don't let it deter you from posting at all.

I do think double posts are sometimes appropriate. If the last person to post on a thread is you, but it was a long time ago, a new post will pop the thread up to the top of the list where people will have a chance to read the new thing.
In general, though, double posting is annoying.
It looks the like the worry over "posting for points" has been thrown out the window with the survival game, but it's usually pretty clear when someone is just trying to rack up points and when someone is playing a game in good faith.
If all you have to add to a thread is "OMG ya i agree!", it's probably best to keep that to yourself, unless you want to explain your reasons.

I have a question about the Survival Game and posting. I've only posted once to the thread, but I agree that it could create a real incentive to rack up posts. Is there any kind of unspoken rule about how many times one can legitimately post to the game? Once a day? Less? More?

I kind of had a feeling this was going to be coming soon. There have been a lot of double postings in threads like You know you are (insert park here) when...
As for what Captain Schnemo said, I have to agree about the appropriate double posts. It is sometimes good to revive an old thread that you were the last one to post in. It can really bring up some good conversation.

I think as long as you're not posting right after your own posts, you should be fine. Really, the 30-minute cap on requests mitigates some of the posting for points thing, anyway. If they (the powers that be) have a problem with it, I'm sure they'll say something.
Also, the point about double posting to bump up old threads with new info is a good one. Especially since making new threads on the same topics is verboten. So there are some exceptions to (almost) every rule.

That is exactly what I tend to do. I can't even count how many times I've done it in order to bring life in old threads to get more interaction.

Thanks for the guidelines. I know I'm one of the "young offenders," but please understand that when you come from other sites where editing is not as easy (and results in a line added beneath your posts saying that you edited the post - a black mark), it's a common habit to post again rather than edit previous posts.
Anyway, although I admit that I'm working towards having enough points to request the longer loops, any double posting I did was certainly inadvertant and the result of old habits, not a desire to rack up points. I know I'll get there someday.

Since I brought the Survival game here, how about I throw out a new rule? What about waiting 1 - 2 hours to + - again? Throw your suggestions out there, because the game is getting heated right now with so few attractions. As always, admins, it is your choice. If you want the posters to wait a little longer it is all good.

I think js was just giving us a "reminder" there are alot of newbies here. We've all made the mistake of a double post etc... or at least I have.
I have been waiting a while before I posted again in the Survival Game, trying not make it look like I'm racking up posts, b/c that's not the case. I have enough points to request anything I'd like at this point. Just think it's a fun game.
Anyway, just saying, I think it was just a reminder, I don't think js intended antything bad about it.

I agree with you. I have enough points alread that I'm just posting here because I enjoy chatting with you all and I've found a real bad addiction to the Survival Game especially now near the end but I would be fine with the rule of only posting 1-3 posts per day for the Survival Game. I know this means it would take longer but it also means more realistic than have the same person give points to the same attraction which I'm guilty of right now but I can stop if we decide to make it an official rule.

Hmm...I must have missed the announcement. Where is it? I will say on the survival game in the beginning I double posted a lot. Now I am trying to limit it. I really could careless about the points I just love the fun aspect of it. Sorry if any of my double postings offended anyone or annoyed.
