Just a thought,
Wouldn't it be cool to be able to rate the tracks. It could be similar to the way you rate songs in your itunes with a 5 star or 5 "ears" method. As the songs come through the queue it would be cool to rate them so an average rating could be made. This would allow users to see what the other users think of tracks (without writing a comment). It would be cool to see the most popular tracks and that type of data.

If we were going to rate songs, I'd rather go with a 1 - 10 system.

personally, I think the track comments are good enough. but that's just IMHO. That said, I'm no code monkey, so I don't know how hard it would be to implement this. I think that just having the comments attached to the tracks is enough.

I agree with you (How did that happen?

LMAO). With the diversity of our boards, I think a rating system would be a wash. Anyway, I don't want to hurt anybody's feeling. Do you? You have to remember, people take their likes and dis likes very personal. I know there are tracks I LOVE and not many other people can stand. You don't want to hurt anybody's feelings do you?

I agree that a rating system would just serve to pigeonhole things too much. Let people decide for themselves what they like without a subjective rating system. The comments are good enough.

I think it'd be neat to see maybe not a full rating system but a thumbs up/thumbs down kind of thing (y'know, like "This track has 10 thumbs ups and 3 thumbs down"). If there are tracks that seem to have an overwhelming thumbs down, perhaps they could be pulled from the rotation except when they're requested? Though I have no idea how hard that would be to code...
Would it really stop you from requesting something you wanted to hear if it had a low rating? I mean, that 'dreaded upcoming tracks' thread pretty clearly shows that people continue to request things other people have said they don't like.

It would be nice to tie in rating with points. I like the ratings and would like to see more of them. If they were tied to points, that would increase the number of ratings.
Of course, it might increase it too much. Maybe 1 pt. per rating????

Rating may be fun but seeing the comments on various songs are good enough for me. I always look at comments to see how people enjoy a song before I listen to it.

I like the comments section better as it least allows you to write a brief reason why you like or dislike about that particular track.

Well, I still wanna see those. The comments are (usually >_>) really interesting. I just meant it might be nice to see a little thumb icon with the number of ups and downs in the list when you're selecting songs. I definitely don't want to lose the comments.

I definitely agree with adding the points for ratings system.
Also, I think the ratings system would work well for when there are no requested songs in the queue. Whenever the queue is empty, the system can automatically play some of the highest-rated songs, or even better, scan which users are listening to the station, and play songs based on THEIR ratings!
I know it's a lot to ask, but one can dream, right?

I really enjoy reading other folks' comments about the different tunes....That being said, a "thumbs up, thumbs down" type rating system would be a nice ADDED feature. It would be cool to see which tunes get the most ups versus the most downs...

I too like the idea of a simple rating system like thumbs up/down
