The Sci-Fi Diner is awesome, you really should visit it the next time you're in WDW. My DH and I love the food and atmosphere. The film they show are a bunch of shorts that are put together. They're old Sci-Fi thrillers and some cartoons mixed in there, Tom and Jerry are one of them! It's really a great time!

I guess I enjoy the audio loop here on Subsconic because I like the restaurant so much. It is one of the most unique restaurants at WDW although the food is at best very average. If you have never been I would definitely recommend that you go at least once just for the experience. Sometimes we will go and just order a milkshake and a drink or maybe an order of french fries just so that we can sit and enjoy the atmosphere and the really bad but funny 50's sci-fi movie clips.
Allears.net gives good information about the Sci-Fi and lists several the the movie clips that are shown.

I think the best cartoon they have is The Cat Who Hates People, (or whatever it's really called). Not hard to sympathize with him after a day in crowded parks. It's a fun experience one time, but be warned it's pretty expensive even compared to other Disney sit-downs. I'd definitely aim for the lunch menu.
The milkshakes are really good, though. As are the screaming (in unison with the movies) cast members.

Yep, we love Sci Fi too! Great atmosphere, and a nice fark place to cool offf in the summer. The milkshakes are very good as everyone has already said.
I could sit in there for hours if they would let me bring a recliner in
I do agree, some of the food isn't all that great, but the burgers and onion rings are pretty tasty!!!
