There should be a "Now Playing" for all sections

In my opinion, I should be able to know what I am listening to while listening to the "Background" streams, and even on the "Scheduled" streams. I am currently listening to the 4th consecutive nice song on "Background", but I have no idea what's its called and where its from!

What player are you using? I have used Winamp and the Subsonic Radio player and both tell me the current song playing. They do list the upcoming songs, because as has been explained in the past it is random and the computer doesn't know what it will play next or something like that.

the player used for the Scheduled and background streams is different than the player used for the Requests station. The scheduled and background streams are simply using Winamp running on random play, with different playlists. The computer doesn't show us which tracks are upcoming, just as the winamp you use doesn't show you the next song. The request stream uses a different kind of player, which has a queue system which DOES display what's coming up next, which we've been able to build a page around.

also, if you read this thread, I created a Sticky Thread (threads that are on the top of the forum page, no matter how many pages deep you go. it answers this question because of how often it's requested.

You could check the background tracks in the chat whenever you're in it. I've tried it before so if you're ever in the chat, just type !bgm and it will show the track.

That's cool - didn't know that. But then again, I've been in chat... twice?

I've found it out the last time QuickGold did the live DJ chat. I've learned a bunch of little tricks. !track is for what is currently playing in the requests, !last is the previous track in the requests, and !weather + zip code is to show the weather in any area. I've become a little tech person.

I use the Winamp and I am on the scheduled stream and it shows me what is playing. Right now it's the Haunted Mansion Entire Ride Thru :D

Really? Strange! I never know what's playing on the scheduled but if I used the Tuner Internet Radio on my iPod Touch then it would show me probably. It shows me the requests and the background so it could work on the scheduled!

RealPlayer also tells you what is being played.

I would really like a now playing page for all the streams as well so we could look at what is playing and coming up without having to switch streams.

Eventually I'll program it, but don't hold you breath. That's low on my priority list. First, I need to make shirts for the meet. Then, I need to finish another personal project of mine. Then, I need to add the new feature to help long queues on the now playing page. Knowing my pace, that's a long ways away.

Or, we could at least have a "Recently Played" list for those that we couldn't see what's coming up.

Just another suggestion.

Same thing, don't have the resources to do that right now. :)

I understand.

There's just so much wonderful music that I can't find the title to, its kinda disappointing at times.
