Oh, yes! I hate that feeling. Now that I'll be starting school this Monday, I'll be sad if the tracks I want happen while I'm in class. Thankfully my library class last semester had me in front of a computer for three hours so I got a chance to listen in.

My school doesn't even allow streaming so I can't get subsonic on my computer from the dorm. I have to use my cellphone- that is another thing I hate!

Well Rutgers allows you to stream, but they limit your bandwidth usage. So once you hit your limit, you get a one week suspension of your internet priviledges. Thankfully I have the iPhone.... which works perfectly except it doesn't work right in making phone calls.

It isn't surprising that they are limiting bandwidth. I know that here at Penn we do the same thing to our students, but the staff are unlimited. I have discussed this with our IT staff, the ones I actually get alone with, and they simply said that the Staff don't use the web as much as the students. This means the amount of bandwidth they use is much less by comparison. The students seem to stream more than the staff, and also the staff are only there for 8-10 hours out of the day, sometimes the students are there for longer.

I do find this true with the students using more bandwidth, I have been in the main lobby of our new building and saw several students streaming Hulu or Netflix during their lunch....I mentioned this to one of the IT guys and he said "yeah, thank God the Doctors haven't figured out how to do that yet" which made me laugh. I think they do know that I stream, chat, surf, and download more than the average staff member, or average student for that matter, but they don't care.....yet. I think one reason is I don't bug them about stuff that often, I think this past week was the first time I actually had a request of them, my hard drive failed.

You request a track, go on about your day saying "be back at [time it's supposed to play], be back at [time it's supposed to play], be back at [time it's supposed to play]" and then you remember the final time 45 seconds before it concludes.

You want to request some tracks, but all the tracks you want to listen to are unavailable.

It happened to me the other day. I scheduled the Jungle Cruise live banter and my baby started crying. I had to attend to fatherhood duties and missed my picks! D'OH!

the tracks that you scheduled are about to come up and you get pulled into an impromptu meeting or someone comes up to your desk to talk to you?
I was so excited I had all my points saved up. I tried to time my music for right after lunch (and why does the Q time always shift and not in my favor?) so I was all set to be enjoying my treasured pieces and boom -- "can we meet after lunch?" do you think I would get fired if I yelled "NO WE CAN'T" ??? Maybe I'll try it. :!:

I do hate it when I get called out right before my tracks play. I also hate it when I hear a song that I don't particularly like then realize it was something I requested to see what it was!

I hate when I request something (which is very rare), and the track won't play for close to 8 HOURS, even with the 30 minute restriction in place...
