Songs' Availability

I have just requested a song and I am trying to work out how long it is exactly before it can be requested again. You would think this is easy given that the info appear on the actual song, but the time difference makes it quite hard. I requested it at 9:10am Friday 2/5 and it played at 9.46am (the counter then changed to 1.46am!). The song's information updated when it played saying that it would be available again Monday 5th at 12.46am hence my confusion.

I can answer to at least that part of your post. Once a song is requested, it takes 3 days for it to be available again for anyone to request.
As for when it will play, if you go to the now playing page (
http://www.subsonicradio.com/station/now_playing.php), it should show you where it is in the quque for the request streams. At the bottom shows how long the total queue length is so you can guess-timate from there.
Hope this helps!

Thanks - I like the new feature of showing when the song will play after it has been requested. Thanks for the '3 day' info too. Is it 3 days to the exact hour that it has been played? The time zone issue is preventing me working this out.

The most likely reason it changed to 1am is that may have logged off. The default setting on the site is Pacific Standard time (west coast USA). That would account for the time difference. When you are logged in the site changes to YOUR time zone (this is the same for each user). For instance I can look at the now playing page right now and it will say 11:00am while I'm logged in, but as soon as I logout it will change to 8:00am. Hope that explains the discrepancy.

Mmmm - even when I'm logged in the time for it being available again is not three days to the hour but way out. The time doesn't change when I log in. It does change on the play list as to song coming up and times though.

Hmmm, that sounds interesting. Can you send me a screen shot of this?

I will do - I shall request a track and then with me logged in will send you a screen shot of the request list with that track.

We're lazy here. I believe the times on the now playing list are correct against your time zone when logged in, but the time to play again in the requests are based off server time.
Also, the time to request something again is "around" 3 days. This is so people can't watch a song and request it again at the exact same time every 3 days.
I'm a little curious of slimming the time down between requests and seeing if we get a lot of repeats again. The main reason we did this was because we would hear HM and PIRATES soooo many time during the day. But we have also expanded out library quite a bit since then. I dunno, stop be the chat to discuss.

Thanks for the information - that make a lot of sense now.
It might be interesting to try and experiment for a week or so with shorter times between requests to see what happens.
