Subsonic Radio satisfy or whet your appetite for the Parks?
Does listening to the theme park audio help alleviate your desires to go to the Parks, or does it just increase your desire for the real thing?
I suppose it does a little of both for me. Since I have no immediate plans to go to the Parks, it works as a nice escape. But the more I hear my treasured tracks, the more I want to catch the next train to Main Street Station.

Me too! What am I doing here when I could be sitting having a coffee watching the kids spin around on Dumbo!SWHorn wrote:It most definitely makes me want to go more. I pretty much have an undying urge for all things Disney World and have to be planning a Disney trip at all times.

my last visit to the parks is when i realized the use of the music. i was leaving the hub and heading into adventureland and while the music was loud in the hub...it melted away smoothly and quickly as i entered Adventureland. I was hooked then. the music for me reminds me of good memories and makes me feel good. its like a good smelling candle. a good drink. or christmas morning.

It's a mix.
On the one hand, it makes me wish I could SEE the rides again that are now long-gone. The original JII, World of Motion, Horizons... stuff like that. I love being able to hear the soundtracks since I never thought I'd have that opportunity, but I also wish I could see those rides again.
But for the rest... oh yes it makes me want to go back! To ride Haunted Mansion, Splash Mountain... see a parade...

It does both for me, as well. Brings me back to my childhood on some tracks and brings back great memories. Others make me wish to be there instantly.

It holds me over until my wife can plan a new trip.

All the music makes me think of my favorite wine "I WANNA GO TO DISNEY!"
"Our dreams can come true - if we have the courage to pursue them" WED
"There's a fine prow on that steamer, let's climb aboard her!" Fireside
"You're off the map mateys..Here there be SeaMonsters!!"
The original "LICENSE MAYHEM MARAUDER!!

It kinda does both for me. I wish I could convice my wife to go every 2-3 years but as we stand now it looks like I will only be able to go maybe once every 5 years so all of you people out there contributing to global warming better knock it off cause the next time I visit the park I don't want it to be near or under the ocean! (even more reason for disney to build a park in Kansas.... they got my vote and dollar if they do.)

The reason I ask is because I believe Disney is really missing the boat with their (lack of ) use of the internet to promote the parks.
Hats off to subsonic as this site is genius, much-loved and continues to grow. I really don't think Disney could a better job providing the volume of quality content or ease of use. The only thing Disney might be able to add to the site if they ran it is to gussy it up and make it look more "Disney." This is no means a knock on subsonic, I just think Disney would have the bountiful funds to throw at it.
I was excited when I heard about Virtual Magic Kingdom. I checked it out, and it is pretty cool... for the younger set. Doesn't exactly make me want to head to the parks, but I can understand it appealing to the youngsters and I'm fine with that.
But there are two areas I believe Disney is woefully missing opportunities to promote the parks by online means. The first- they should sell Disneyland/ WDW.. Park specific merchandise online. Yes I know about DelivEARS, but you have to know what's available and the only way to do that is to go to the Park. I have to believe that Disney's logic is that by selling Park merchandise online, that would cut down on Park visitors who go to shop. My contention is that any money lost by fewer visitors to the parks would be more than made up by online sales.
And second, there should be a Massive Multiplayer Online Virtual Park. I don't play a whole lot of games these days, but I know the capabilities to make a beautiful, 3D virtual environment exist. Why won't Disney make a 3D Virtual park with virtual rides (like the virtual Little Mermaid Ride included with the Little Mermaid DVD). They could even charge a nominal fee, like the MMORPG's do. I believe a site like that, just like this site, would promote real world park attendance. subsonic, you think you whip something like that up real quick for the fans out here?
Sorry for the long post. I'll step off my soap box now.

I like that idea. They could even make a type of "Roller Coaster Tycoon" ride where you can create your dream Disney Theme Park. They could even use it to get ideas on what they could do to make the parks better. Who wouldn't want to create their own Magic Kingdom and test out their own rides? And second, there should be a Massive Multiplayer Online Virtual Park. It makes me want to take my family to Disneyland Park as it is closer to us then WDW. I guess I will have to start planning our trip for next summer, as it is going to be a big Disney trip what with staying in one of the resort hotels. My kids are going to love it, but until then, guess listening to the music and watching our last trip last year, will just have to suffice.
