Wouldn't it be possible to make a 192Kbps station?

I think it would be great for people who have a broadband connection and like to listen to high quality music?

Just a question...

Not really, it's not practical. See many of the tracks are at 128k or lower so there really isn't any point in going higher to hear the same as we are hearing now. Hope that answers your question. :mickey:

Although, to answer his actual question, of course it's possible... but in addition to the bandwidth required for a stream of that magnitude (approx. 2GB per day per connection), the good doctor's comments about source quality also holds.

yes, this subject comes up every so often. I've heard requests for 192k, 256k and 320k. as Dr. Ravenscroft pointed out, we do not have many tracks that are above a bit rate of 128k. most of the tracks are at about 64k or so. so the quality would not improve at all on those tracks. also, as spaulo noted, the bandwidth involved would be a bit much.

sorry, but unless we get tracks with the quality to be on such a high bit rate stream, it won;t happen...

Yeah, try listening on the 64k stream. It doesn't sound that much worse. While I'd like all my tracks to be at 128k they just aren't.

I actually always listen on the 64. The 128 isn't that much better, and bogs down my office's poor little DSL connection too much.
