love your site
Hello,
I love this site. I didn't know it existed! Did you create this yourself or did you use software already available. I see the forums are using phpBB, but dd you code the playlists yourself? How about the streaming portion? The reason I ask is because I'm interested in doing something similar. Your site, and streaming soundtracks, have inspired. Guess I'd better brush up on my php....
Thanks!

This is really for Sub to answer, but most of the story is available off the main home page. Sub coded everything, using some widely known software (like Flash, phpbb). he coded the request system to pull some info from phpbb. We use a Shoutcast server for the streaming audio.

anything more detailed, I'll leave to Sub...

Re: love your site
I do have to say most of this is a Site Secret. Sub doesn't give up his trade secrets. (I don't even know)pr0ph3t wrote:Hello,

I understand keeping it a secret...not a problem. I was just curious (as I always am) about what's under the covers as I'm a developer as well. I've always thought it'd be really cool to have an internet station like this that is also broadcasted over the airwaves (fm/am). maybe it exists. if it does, i've not seen it.

i'm just fascinated by the online playlist from which you can make requests. even if a radio station did that it'd be cool. list all their available music and allow the listeners the ability to program the station (except for commercials of course). or...i guess even somehow allowing them to choose which commercials. maybe that would deter advertisers from making horrible commercials.
does anybody know of other streaming sites that use this model? such as sst (streaming soundtracks) and this site?

Most of the information is in the history. Unfortunately, I have given out how I did things and then competitors sprouted up. Now I don't give out how I do things. I will let you know that it's code that I have made from scratch using various tools out there.
Setting up a shoutcast server is no secret though. www.shoutcast.com has all the information. Getting the request system and bandwidth is a different story.

Welcome to the site. When I worked at Disnyeland I'd walk around after the park closed. It was very eerie.minarcia wrote:Love the site as well, I'm brand new, I went to Disneyworld back in February for the third time and it was my wife's first. The music is what makes the parks for me. Imagine Disney in silence. Not nearly as stimulating. Thanks for the site, sounds and songs!
