"Technically" Disney
Maybe it's because I've never experienced them, but I can't help but think that these Animal Kingdom Lodge and Cirque du Soleil tracks just don't seem very Disney at all... I understand why they're on here and that they do, indeed, belong... but I have a hard time even remembering I'm listening to SSR any more!

hmmmmmmmmmmm......
with that line of thinking you should also want to see the tracks from Fort Wilderness Lodge and the Polynesian should be removed to.
but one has to understand that the stream plays tracks from all area's located on Disney Properity be it the Animal Kingdom Lodge or the Cirque du Soleil ( which is a circus i can't seem to understand and has nightmare due to the clowns ) is music in its most gentalist form therefore i must say that the clowns need to be shot with gpc tracking darts to know where they are at all times and something else but i can't remember........

Re: "Technically" Disney
I have this problem all the time when adding tracks. Wondering if they actually fit. Sure, it's play at disney but is it actually disney? Was it made by disney? It seems this topic issue is 50/50. Another example are the tracks at DCA. At the Plaza it's all beach and sun songs done by aritsts that were heard on the radio. I'm still up in the air with tracks like these. But I also think I haven't added content in a while. At some point there's going to be nothing left to add, Disney doesn't add attractions that fast.

And this is why I know it's totally subjective, and the fact that I've never been to AKL or seen La Nouba is what's swaying me... when I hear the end title track from the movie "Dave," I think of walking out of the Grand Californian Hotel towards Soarin'... done it a dozen times, heard the song in that context a dozen times... I wasn't "complaining," per se, just pointing out that once you break away from ride audio of rides commonly found at Disney parks (like, Mansion, Pirates, the dark rides, Big Thunder, Splash, Space, etc) you get in a situation where not everyone is going to get the "Disney feel" from them.
Anyway, yeah, that's it.

I've seen La Nouba on TV, and didn't really like it. But I am a big fan of Cirque du Soleil in general- so I don't mind having the sound track on here. That's my bias.
I do agree it's totally subjective- like with the DCA area music. But that's a little different because it's actually played in the park. When I hear those songs, I actually do think of DCA more than anything else. Where as La Nouba is technically on the Disney property-it's not something that people can hear just by walking around. It's not really a shared common Disney experience.
But I haven't heard any La Nouba tracks since the week it was added...so. meh.

I think the La Nouba tracks are much like the Disney Cruise Line tracks that are in the list. Not everyone has seen La Nouba, just as not everyone has taken a Disney Cruise. However, it can still invoke memories for those that have done these things. As has been broght up many times before, the main draw to the station is it brings back memories for people about their past trips. I know that if I went down to WDW today and saw La Nouba, I'd probably want to hear the soundtrack when I got home, without having to shell out money for the CD....
I say keep them in, but that's my $.02.

I know what you wrote when the thread was started, but the general consent of people is a question - "do they belong on here?" even though you said it - you do realize they do technically belong, the only reason you would've posted anything is because you'd be confused about the REASON they belong (at least as I read it). I can;t speak for manncab's posting, but mine indicate why they should belong. Maybe the post belongs over in the news forum where Sub originally posted his doubt that the tracks should remain, but this thread also fit...

to me la nouba IS part of the disney experience, as it ONLY lives at downtown disney. if we wanted to pull off EVERY song that wasn't created expicitly for a disney attraction, this server would probably cut back very quickly. look at america sings, the only thing disney about it is the arrangement and vocals, the songs aren't "disney" i say put anything on the server that reminds you of a wonderful walt disney vacation! keep up the great work!

Well after reading all the posts and having heard a few of the Cirque du Soleil - La Nouba songs over the weekend I would say I would not miss them if they were taken out of the list. Having said that I understand that they bring back memories for others and are certainly part of a Disney vacation experience for many people.
My suggestion, therefore, would be to add those songs and make them available for members to request, but to not put them on any standard rotation to be played without being requested.

Agreed! They all add to the station and make it better, even if I haven't personally seen or rode it doesn't mean I don't want to hear what it is like. As for that idea that the music wasn't made for Disney - the old Tomorrowland tracks and most of the Epcot background music would also need to be pulled since it wasn't "made for Disney" and no one wants that to happen. So keep on adding those tracks from resorts, DCA, etc.!rickeisenstein wrote:I think the tracks are fine because technically they are part of the WDW experience.

I love having the tracks on there, of all the resorts. I'm a Disney TA, and have often given your link out to Guests looking either to get excited for their trip, or to relive the experience of being at a particular resort. I would love to have all the resort tracks up there, but that's just me.
Also, the AKL tracks instantly bring me back to Disney, since we've stayed there so often. It was a period in my life where I was recovering from a broken ankle, and spent quite a bit of downtime at the resort. I have very very fond memories of being there, just watching the animals roam while my family was out playing at the parks. The CM's that week were amazing, and it was a fabulous experience with what could have been a horrible trip.
If they don't seem Disney to you, just staying at the resorts or try La Nouba and you'll have a bright new take on SubsonicRadio!
Don't remove the tracks, just look at it as an excuses broaden your experiences!
(like I ever need an excuse!!! heheheheee!)

i still say, as long as you heard it at one of the parks, and it can bring back even 1 memory then bring it on! there are a lot of songs that i have on new age album, particularly one off of gantz's "christifori's dream" that is a track that i heard once in tomorrowland and at wonders of life. it definantly wan't disney created, but it takes me back there! remember we can choose which tracks we put into the queue, if it doesn't tickle your fancy then don't select it! thanks again. i love all i hear from this radio!

I like the idea of "request only" tracks. Something for me to think about when recoding.
