While we
*impatiently* await a Subsonic android app, I found a fix for the meantime.
The Amazon appstore offers one paid app for free a day; everyday there is a different app available. Sometimes it's a game, sometimes it's a tool. Either way, it's an app that one would normally have to pay for and it's available for free.
Today's (4/22/11) app is Tune In Radio Pro. I downloaded it this morning and to my surprise, I found the Subsonic request stream!!! (and it actually works!!!!)

YAY!!! I can listen on my phone now!!!!

Nice ~ do you have the link to the free app a day? I can't even find the Planet Earth download that is supposed to be free in itunes today in celebration of Earth Day

just noticed the difference between the free one (TuneIn Radio) and the $.99 one (TuneIn Pro) is that the Pro one allows you to record. This might be worth the $.99 price tag!

It's really more like a DVR...so you could rewind if you missed something. That's how I understood it...but I don't have the Pro version yet so I don't know for sure.

How do you get the "Tune In" app to play the Scheduled stream? I can only find the Request stream.

Request is the only stream I found. I know I was kinda bummed that I couldn't find the background stream, but I'm happy to have a way to listen to Subsonic on my phone!
As far as the recording goes, I haven't tried it, but I believe BIG is right.

I use TuneIn Radio Pro. It's a paid app, but the free version also works just fine. Download and seach for subsonic. Plays the request stream.
