why I listen

Post by europa » Jul Thu 08, 2004 3:08 pm

Why do I listen? Good question.

It must be the way it makes me feel. Endorphin rush, I guess. I get some major nostalgia when I hear certain disney songs. Some have an incredible way of bringing me right back to that moment I spent in the park. Sights, sounds, feelings, and memories of who I was with at the time speed through my brain!

Not all the songs do it, but when they do, it's pretty cool.

I love it! I just recently found this station and now it's just about the only station I listen to. There's another good station called "Jim's Music" with lots of Disney stuff and other things, but it doesn't come as close to bringing home the nostalgia of Disneyland than this!

It's funny, but I really enjoy the little clips giving ride instructions "...the safty bar will lower automatically..." scattered around in between the songs.

Stay online, please!
Cheers,
Richard

That was Sockfire's idea. a good one at that. We actually set it up to play:
song
song
song
30 sec clip
song
song
song
song
song
30 sec clip

Of course, that doesn't work when people are making requests. Maybe I can fix that

2 reasons - The first it reminds me of my time in the parks and the fun our family has had and the second it drives the other person in my office crazy. She can't stand Disney music this way.

Disney should encourage all of us doing this because it just makes me want to go to the parks and spend money on Mickey stuff
So. True. I did the most ridiculously nerdy happy dance when I bought my first ride audio CD (the light blue one that WDW put out in the mid-90's thta had all of the EPCOT Cheesiness on it). I played that CD to death until my entire CD collection went "missing" (read: stolen) in college. I've been pining for that CD ever since (downloads aren't the same)! This station helps fill some of the void!

Other reason beyond mere nostalgia is the fact that listening to this station makes me feel as though my next WDW vacation is closer than just two years away...

I just found this site recently, and now I can't live without it! Like many people I don't live in California. So park sounds are essential to my survival outside the park. I think I would even listen to a static mic picking up anything in the park.

I like the small clips thrown in there such as:
"don't pull on the saftey bar, I will lower it for you"

&
a from the monorail at WDW with the doors opening and closing,
"#bing-bong"

one every 5th song would be sufficient.

As has been said by previous posters, I listen to bring back memories. I love visiting WDW and love the rides/shows (all except "it's a small world", for personal reasons...). I'm like a kid in that I'm saving up loose change for a trip down there again. I can't wait until I hit the mark, though. I want to go back SO BAD...

ps - for info on why I don't like "iasw", email me or something. I don't really feel like posting about it here...

i listen so that im able to hear all the wonderful music that you normally cant when you are at home, away from the parks. and its very cool to hear a lot of the background music that when your at the park you can often hear, but dont pay much attention to. and of course because i love disney and wdw in particular !!!

These songs bring me so many fantastic memories. This radio increase my desire of visit again and again WDW. But how i can´t do it as i would love to, i keep listening so i can "be there" even when i´m in an ocean of distance...

And, of course, i can´t resist and put my travel´s videos to watch, to complete the nostalgia....

Theme park audio...

It reminds me that once, a long time ago, Disneyland used to be rad, instead of the moldering, shadow of what it once was and is now.. Hopefully, the new powers that be there (and the 5oth Anniversary) will maybe get it back to it's former glory.

That stuff (the park audio) is like heroin to me...

My mom tells me I was conceived at WDW so I guess it's just part of who I am

So, for almost 30 years, WDW has been a huge part of my life. There's nothing like hearing a piece of music to put you right back in the moment of a cherished memory.

This January, I'll be taking my daughter (who will be 6 months) to WDW for the first time. I want WDW to be as important to her as it is to me. Now, as she lays here nursing, I have the laptop playing subsonic, and when particular songs come on, I talk to her about where I was and when.

It's like subsonice is playing the soundtrack of my life...

Thanks so much!
