The post counts were removed because the focus of them has been skewed. There seems to be a general trend in the forums of multiple members "racing" to get points to be the #1 poster. We do not want the focus of the forums to be the quantity of individual posts, but the QUALITY of the posts. The forums are only valuable if they contain worthwhile posts, not filled with nonsense. I should also note that the forum post count was greatly skewed with the addition of new games into the forums. These games, while entertaining, rack up post counts at a high rate.

This has also nothing to do with Dr. Ravenscroft, Js3901, Subsonic, or me maintaining a top spots. We really have no interest in that type of status. If we really wanted to maintain those spots we could have easily bumped up post counts artificially.

The main objective of removing the post count is to improve the forum quality for all members. This way posts are generated by members actively trying to enrich the forum experience.

Post numbers don't matter...getting to socialize with my subsonic family is most important! It's great to know there are people out there who are as fanatical as me...

actually, that decision was on rdeacon. he removed the post counts from showing. your request points weren't removed. They were lost (along with the posts that made the points) due to the database corruption...

That is a smart move since it was starting to turn into a game. Yeah, so I am back and it seems like my points went on a diet! Glad to see the boards back, not so happy to be back.

that makes sense. i would of done the same thing. it gets annoying when people post pointless stuff just to get to the next level.
