What?! You don't even listen?! This is just not right! And you call yourself a site admin. humph.......
I just can't believe it, you really don't listen? Of course if I had that much stored I could just pick my favorites over and over too.
Just like everyone here my treasures are a mile long, and most of the time they are requested, so I guess everyone likes my treasures too! Sometimes I do request my favorites when they are available and when I can listen. Sometimes ya just gotta listen to one of your fav's!

You have to look at it this way, many of us have large collections of the music in our own databases so we can listen to it whenever we want. Like right now I am listening to a Fantasyland Dark Ride Suite.......er MNSSHP Mix and Mingle now. Sometimes if I am away from my collection, which is unlikely since I have it all on my Archos and I carry that everywhere, I will listen to the background stream.wdwannabe wrote:js3901 wrote:

I also understand that you and others have lots stored on mp3's, CD's and such, but I guess I just figured you listened like the rest of us normal folks. Since this is a radio listening site.......

I find I request a lot of the same stuff over and over. I also have a very large personal collection. There are tracks here I don't have though. It also goes through phases. Right now I'm trying to see how many points I can use on a Saturday or Sunday. I seem to max out at about 13000 points. There are times I go for weeks without requesting anything.

When I first came here, I'd request all kinds of things. Now I barely request (or listen) at all, so when I do it's only things that I don't have in my personal library - usually fav'd on here - or that I don't have access to at that moment.

I've never once called myself a SITE Admin. My avatar says "Site", but I did not put it there. The avatar was made for me, not by me. I only admin the forums, which is where I spend most of my time.wdwannabe wrote:js3901 wrote:

Why would I NEED to listen? I have every single track on the site, as well as some that are not yet in the playlist. currently, I'm up to 12GB - just under 8 DAYS (7.916 to be exact) of non-repeat tracks in my personal collection. If I want to listen to something, I can play it immediately instead of waiting 6 hours or more to listen to it.
like Dr. Ravenscroft said, if I happen to be away from my collection (which probably won't happen as it's all on my laptop, but I digress), I will listen to one of the non-request streams. The queue has grown so much in the last 5 years that it's just not worth it to wait as long anymore.

Re: Requesting Music on SR
I request long tracks that I love - plus they're great for studying. I find the talking or singing tracks distracting (although great if I'm just hanging out).aparadissis wrote:I found myself requesting the same music over and over because I find it infectous. So my poll is simple. Do you request general music or only the tracks you love?

One thing I love about this site is finding music that I either have never been able to find, or music I never heard before. Case in point, music from DLP. I have found a few that I really like, so I treasured them. Also, when I hear something I like, I usually go and treasure it right away so I don't forget.
