Fantasmic twice in a row - sorry folks

Post by Club33Hopeful » May Wed 04, 2005 5:08 pm

Wasn't looking at the schedule. Didn't mean to request F! right before F! so it would play twice in a row. Mea Culpa.

There is nothing wrong with fantasmic. Though I have never seen the show myself.
I've gone full circle on my avatars.

I've never seen it myself. That's one reason why I don't like those tracks. As I've never seen it, I can't appreciate as I would otherwise. Maybe next time I go down to WDW (cause trying to get to FL is easier than CA) I'll try and catch the show...

I absolutely loved fantasmic at disneyland, and hated it at MGM. Disneyland has a much better stage even though its not its own seperate arena. With MGM they have a dedicated stage and probably spent most of their budget on that and ran out on props. Disneyland they use the Mark Twain and the sailing ship Columbia, at MGM they only have a half sized steamship like in steamboat willie.

I was trying to video tape it at MGM and every sound cue I expected was missing really, so many changes, so much time doing the projection video stuff, just wasted time really. I understand costume changes and all, but if Disneyland can do it MGM should be able to do it better since their stage is dedicated for it.

I think the Fantasmic in MGM is pretty good, albeit I haven't seen the DL version.

I was in the same boat when I visited Disneyland in 2000 for the first time. Having seen the show at WDW, I didn't expect to be overly impressed by the Disneyland version, especially because the show at Disney/MGM Studios is performed in an ampitheater specifiacally designed for that purpose.

Boy, was I wrong! Disneyland's Fantasmic makes the WDW version look silly! I was so impressed by the show at DL, I made a point to see it each night of our visit from a different location. Rest assured, if you like the show at WDW, you'll be totally blown away by the original at Disneyland.

I've never seen it either. I know last time I was at MGM I almost went to see it, but they said that seeting for the event started like 2 or 3 hours before the show and it filled up really quickly. I just didn't want to waste 3 hours sitting there when there was so much of the park I wanted to see. Do you still need to get there super early?

You just reminded me of the one interesting thing about the MGM one. About 20 minutes before the show the "wave" got started, and I can say the participation level was way up there. It was pretty fun to see this whole section try like mad for 15 minutes to get the wave started, and finally it got the whole place rocking. That only happens because everyone gets bored having to sit there so long because it fills up early. :\

The key to good seating showing up late is to stand behind one of the light towers. The lighting towers come up out of the ground, and no one stands behind them because they obstruct the view. However, right before show time, they lift way upand you will have a great view.
