I'm sure I'm just stupid but...

Post by jrcohen » May Mon 02, 2005 4:58 pm

I can't seem to figure out how to add a picture to my profile. You know the one that shows on the left hand under your name on the forums. Since everyone else knows how, i'm sure it's just me. Do you need to use a URL, if you have a picture say in "My documents" how would I get it on there? I've already resized it and everything, just can't figure out what i'm doing wrong. Any help would be greatly appreciated. :?:

That little picture is called an "Avatar" and I'll explain step-by-step how to set one up when I get home (checking the boards while on the computer at school).

You have to have the pic hosted somewhere. I use photobucket, its free and its very easy to use. Go to http://www.photobucket.com/ and sign up for a account. Then go to upload the pics and browse for the pic that you want as your avatar. Let it load and then copy the url that they give you. Then go back to your profile editor page and paste that url into the box that says off-site avatar.

thanks so much. I figured it was just something I wasn't doing properly. I didn't realize that you needed a site to host the pictures for you.

Yea, only a few boards actually host the pics for you. Nice avatar by the way. It's only 16 days away.

Thanks. Man, I only wish I could get there. I think it would be so awesome to see the movie first thing on the 19th and then go to star wars weekend right afterwards.

It's up to the person running the website. On my sites, I allow uploads of avatars but everyone has different resources available to them.

I'm not going to be able to be in WDW for the opening, but I will be going to see it on that friday night here in ca. But I didn't even know it was Star Wars weekend when I went last June, and all of a sudden I see storm troopers walking around and people dressed up. Nice surprise.
