Tracks played prior to the available request date????

Post by treasure hunter » Oct Sat 25, 2008 12:44 am

I have noticed at times that a track might have a next available request date/time, and before that time is reached, the track all of a sudden has a new later available request date/time. Are the tracks sometimes played before they are available to be requested????

There's no sequence to when a song will be played. They could play before their next available time or they could play again when there's nothing in the requests. The system keeps adding songs to the queue so that there is always something playing so one of the songs that have been played before can be played once more. I remember playing one song and then hearing it again later that night and the dates change. It counts as a request even though no one has requested it.

I hope this clears it up!

Also, check the titles closely. There are some VERY similar tracks on here, particularly if the same attraction is in multiple parks.

one of the server admins (like Subsonic or rdeacon) may have also over-ridden the request stream temporarily to play the track. If I'm not mistaken, I believe it counts as a request and resets the time.

This helps clear things up...I wondered about this as well.

Yep, when there's no tracks in the queue the system randomly chooses a track to play. It's not so smart about requesting tracks that haven't been played in a while. The way it's coded is that user can't request a track if it's been played recently. Before these restrictions were in place many years ago we used to here the same tracks over and over again. Though, since then the track selection has at least doubled. There are ideas in the works to make tracks more accessible in the future. But right now, those are on hold for quite some time.

I'm glad you fixed that problem even though I'm always hearing ten POTC or Haunted Mansion tracks in one day. I don't mind it, though as long as it's Phantom Manor I'm listening to.
