How about limiting the amount of requests during the day, but after a certain time then it goes back to the old system. Since there aren't as many people as there are during the day.

I vote no. But not completely because I have an idea... The main problem seems to be someone hogging up the que for hours at a time why not make it so there is a small timer between requesting songs.

ie. lets say i request one song at 6am. I would not then beable to request another song untill 6:10 am.

this would allow people a little elbow room to get thier requests in and I believe it would create some variety in the requests that you see. sure this "may" bust up a theme that you are trying to go for but if nobody is requesting you can still get your theme. if someone else is wanting to request they will be able to get thier song in within a reasonable amount of time.

On a side note: I read Rdeacons post about doubling the cost of the next requested songs and I dont nessesarily agree with it. My points (what limited i have) are extremely precious to me and the thought of having the cost of tracks ramped up as i request makes my stomach turn. (sorry rdecon I love ya but not your idea, no hard feelings I hope)

Huh. I kind of like Yensidaj's idea. If the problem truly is big blocks of songs, then requiring a pause (5-10 minutes) between actually making requests would certainly handle this. At least, it sounds like it to me...

great idea yensidaj....maybe even add a personal que so if you have a few songs you want as soon as its your "turn" agian it automatically puts your request in..i think a 3-5 min. window would work.

I have only been here for a short time but one thing that I've noticed is that when I DO see a huge block of requested music by one person, like over 45-50 minutes I tend to just click off & go do something else. It's all great music but I don't necessarily always have that long to wait to hear the one song I may want to request.

No worries either way, it's all great. Just thought I'd put my two cents in as a "newbie" to this site. Obviously people who've been here for a long time have way more say than I do.

I think Bostoncg made some good points, but I voted "no," not because I have a lot of points and like to use them, but because I don't want to make the system too complicated and bogged down in rules. I think too many rules could be just as discouraging to new users as a long request queue.

marcdijon made a good point. I have found a lot of my favorite tracks have come from listening randomally from other people's requests. Sometimes, I'll listen to it and forget to check what the track was though lol

I have had this happen more and more. Just by listening to the streams I sometimes have a song that is cool and I put it in my treasures. I think I am up to 187 songs in my treasures.........yep 187 and I seem to add about one a day when listening to the request stream. I haven't been on them in about 2 weeks but when I am I do find a song here and there.

There's a reason this won't appease everyone because most of the time I run into a long queue line, it's usually from multiple people requesting longer tracks, not just one person. So putting a limit of requests made in a row might work and it might not work...just some more thoughts to ponder about.

Well the point is more for diversity rather than quantity, I think. If you are seeing more, different, names in the queue then that means more user are getting to request. If one user blocks up the time fewer users get to request.

True, good point. My problem has always been seeing the queue line real long, I tend not to look who was requesting it but just seeing when the next queue spot is available.
