Here's a dumb story, but a personal favorite. Disney always throws Employee Xmas partys @ Disneyland after hours. It's great for morale and they don't do too badly keeping the stores open. Employees spend alot on Xmas gifts. The only drawback is that Disneyland late at night, in december, can be nasty. A very heavy fog set in. At first it was magical, everthing glowed. I'll never forget how mainstreet looked that night.
Now for the funny part. When we left, it was after midnight and you could'nt see your hand in front of your face. When we first parked the car, it was sunny and clear. We had parked there a million times before. Needless to say we spent more time in the parking lot that night then we did in the park, walking aisle by aisle trying to find our car. What made it even more surreal was, we were'nt the only one's.. disembodied voices in the distance would call out "I've got a blue volkswagon here..anybody seen my black Vovlo".
Dumb story but true

Funny but scary. I'd have been worried about being hit by one of the people who'd found their cars while they were trying to leave. Main street sounds like it was really pretty though - maybe a bit like when they do the 'snow' for Christmas. Don't suppose you have any pics of it you'd care to share? *hopeful*

Sorry I don't have pix....and your reminding me.... the trip home was the scariest I've ever had...everybody still speeding, chasing distant tail lights. For a while I was the leader of the pack, praying there wasn't an accident just ahead that I could'nt see,

I can imagine. I've never been in that particular situation, but it used to be really foggy sometimes when I was driving home from school around my parents house, with people still going full-speed on major freeways. S'probably why that was the first thing that occurred to me when I read the story - I hate driving in fog. Glad you got home safely!

Did any, like an idiot, have their high beams on? I always hate when people do that, it just makes it worse. I will be there this December and if it is foggy I will take pictures of what I can.

Thats nice that they have a party for the CM's, of course it is also two sided, you have fun they get more money back from you. :( Still all in all it is a good thing.

Bruce Gordon, a modern day Imagineer who kept the Disney "vision" alive, recently passed away @ 54 years young. He helped to keep the parks current and will be missed.

Jacca I too use Xmas when writing. A lot of us are so used to shortening things when posting/blogging/writing. I am a devout Christian and I don't take offense to the Xmas when abreviating the actual word. I am sure those of us that use that abreviation are not intending to be rude. I am sorry that it offends you, it is not meant to.

Bullwinkle, great thread you have going here! My favorite memories of DL is during the late 60's & 70's. I moved away so I didn't get to go much during the 80's 90's or so far the 2000's :x would love to be able to go more often. Your experiences are great! Thanks for sharing!!

My DW told me I'm a little over sensitive on this one. I'm sorry if I came off like an A**. It's just with seeing what's been done to the holiday, I guess I get over the top. SORRY! ;=(

No problems here either...
Except, of course, that I'm still an "A" ticket driving a bus.

And I still can't type.

A Land Pavillion story.
One nite, the maintenance guys were told that one of the animated alligators had lost it's mooring and had floated off. The same guy who pulled the fountain stunt (see previous) went on his quest for the gator. When he found it, he reported on his walkie-talkie that a battle ensued between him and said reptile. When personnel approached the load/unload area....the maintenance boat turned the corner and he (the maintenance guy) was gaffer taped to the seats and the alligator was driving.

You can't make this stuff up.

That is a good one!!!! How the heck did he get the boat to do that without the thing crashing into something in front of him. Is that guy still working there? He sounds like someone I'd like to meet.
