Ehhh...i dont find that neccessarily true. I mean how can you sit there and say that children and others try and get away with the short version. Did you ask everyone in the world this question?Jacca5660 wrote:Good web site. I have read that before. I do understand that is true, but how many people know about that? That said, in today's society it is a sign of the commercialization of Christmas. That and the fact that so many people (especially kids) just try to get away with the short version of everything they write. So like I tell my DS's, "You never take Christ out of Christmas"!casrin wrote:Actually, Jacca, you might find this link interesting about how the X has a lot to do with Christ and Christmas.Jacca5660 wrote: Christmas, Ya don't take Christ out of Christmas!

Not for one second did i ever think that 'xmas' ever stood for an abbreviated version of christmas. I never actually knew why it was spelled like that but i never, ever thought that it was to try and abbreviate it or kick the christ out of christmas.
I think you need to give people a little more credit than to think that they're trying to get away with ousting christ from christmas. I do believe that christmas is commercialized with all the gift giving and advertisements for it, but i still think that those who celebrate it know what christmas is all about.
Since you did know what 'xmas' stood for, why would you question it to begin with? When you said, "dont take the christ out of christmas" you automatically assumed we were trying to do what you asked us not to do. I dunno...just my small opinion i guess.
Sorry to go off topic everyone!
