Magic Journeys

Post by casrin » Jun Tue 19, 2007 11:31 am

I think I only saw Magic Journeys once, and that was when it had already moved from JII's Magic Eye Theatre over to the Magic Kingdom as Captain EO had replaced it. I only have vague memories of the show from back then, but the overall feeling I'd retained was that it was boring and a little creepy. Heh.

This morning, Rich had requested it and I heard it again for the first time since I would've seen the film in 1987. Just with the soundtrack alone, I still found it boring and a little creepy/weird!

Just a random statement as it keeps kicking around my mind. Did anyone enjoy Magic Journeys and if so, what of it did you find appealing/entertaining/interesting?

I saw it several times at WDW and at DLR. It's nice to hear this track, but parts of it totally sound weird without the visual aspect of it.

All I remember of the movie itself was a guy on stilts and kids oogling over him. And I found it... like I say, creepy! Not a happy feel good kind of story that I'd think Disney would put out. Too "artsy" for a theme park, IMO.

I don't remember ever seeing the attraction, but I love the music in this track. It's very relaxing. The music, not the weird clown sounds.

I'd agree with you that the music (and the area music for it in the JII tracks) is very relaxing.

We have the music on a cassette from Magic Journeys. The music is relaxing but I can't remember what the movie was about. :P

Saw it maybe once or twice, don't really remember too much about it other than the kid with the bowlcut hairdo blowing the dandilions.

It's a bummer this video isn't on YouTube. :( I know Captain EO is.

"nancynohorse" was all happy to watch Captain EO the other day on YouTube thanks to the links here. It would be interesting to *see* Magic Journeys again though since my memory of it is so hazy (besides the dislike of it as a kid).

I don't remember Magic Journey's at all... but I do like the song.

I did watch EO this past weekend - wow, not as good as I remember

I remember it being a very slow movie and kinda trippy. But, looking back, watching it in DL's old outdoor theater was cool.
No one's gloomy or complaining while the flatware's entertaining.

I loved being able to watch Captain EO once again! :D But, it was much better in 3D and stereo. My speakers couldn't go loud enough. I was so happy to be able to view Captain EO as I thought it was going to be a memory thing only.

Yeah, back when there was still the Space Stage and they could only run the movie at night.

Magic Journeys never did seem "Disney" to me, I'll bet it was some general movie that Disney bought in order to show off the new 3D polarization technique.
