Recording your own Audio

Post by Rammstein » Oct Wed 11, 2006 11:14 am

I was just wondering, how would i be able to record audio from some of the places that have not been done?

What kind of equipment would i need?

I understand this could be a pain for the moderators of the board but it could benefit the playlist as well.

it all depends on the source material. are you recording from a CD? all you need is Windows Media Player 10 or similar program that can rip like that. are you trying to get from a DVD, or from a website? Then, you'll probably want to try a program like All Sound Recorder. are you recording from some kind of analog tape, or a video (from a VCR)? with that, you'll want to find some kind of cord to plug from the audio output into the microphone/audio input on your computer, and record using the All Sound Recorder.

And if you're recording a live track in the parks, bring a high quality microphone that you can hide easily. And Godspeed.

Lots of digital devices -- mp3 players, phones, etc. -- have digital audio recorders, but yes the microphone issue is going to be significant. Worth a try if you were bringing one along anyway. :)
No, no... He's got a point.

Not necessarily, my brother has a shotgun mic that he uses for fireworks and alike and they haven't stopped him yet, and that thing is on top of the camera. If we wanted to we could record live audio at pretty good quality. But we really wouldn't, we are just perfectionists.

Disney wouldn't really care if you wanted to sit by a bush and record for a couple of hours. You paid admission, aren't bothering anyone and not tampering with their stuff; what do they care?

Moderators note: Subsonic Radio does not condone the use of recording copywrited material for any use other than personal entertainment. Certainly not for republishing, sharing, or rebroadcasting.

If you were to record, I HIGHLY recommend recording in stereo, this would require two mics.

Our digital camcorder has a stereo microphone, and records great sound... Hadn't ever thought of using it just as an audio recorder...

I recorded using my Dell AximX51v PDA and it actually worked well. Not in stereo mind you, but definitely loud and clear.

You could use a small digital recording device with a tethered microphone.

I'll enocode something and post it up here for everyone to hear. Just got back from 10 days at WDW in late September so this stuff is fresh!

Edit: Here are a few recordings with a Dell Axim X51v sitting in my lap during the shows.
