Playing patterns

Post by Mickeymac » Nov Thu 10, 2005 8:12 am

I was just thinking while reading the post count thread that some members tend to request the same types of things over and over again. I know, for instance, that when I see djwatcher requesting, that I'll get a neat compilation of stuff I've never heard of. Lately, I'm prone to requesting Club 33 music, which is also something I've never heard of, but was exposed to on Subsonic. Have you noticed any trends or patterns in the requests?

AKLRULES does pick a lot of AK/AKL music

I know my personal tastes trend towards DCA area music, Studios music, and queue music in general... lately I've been on a kick of all the instrumental Muppets tunes you hear in the MuppetVision-3D queue.

Yes, people tend to pick the same stuff. If I ever get around to this, newer coded schedules will help remedy the situation.

I know I pick the same stuff. I just need to get it out of my system until I find something new to request every 24 hours

I also know that before I used to pick a lot of attraction music, but I like the area music as well now.

Spaulo, the server just played the queue music for Muppets 3D and I thought of you! :D

I definately request the same stuff, but have found a few new ones to add to my list. I get in a mood for just the rides cause that makes me think I am there
Then when I am working on the books at the office I like the stuff like Reflections On The Pond and AK, cause they are relaxing. I don't always have the webpage up to see what's playing and I might hear something I really like and can't see what it was so I could add it to my list.

I'm sure alot of people will find new favorites in the next batch to go in. I'm still finding things that we're missing (I love the "wishlist" feature on soulseek - it's constantly looking for stuff for me).

Boston, you're another one I like to see requesting stuff - it's very 'work friendly' for me.

JS, what is soulseek? You've mentioned it a few times lately.

Hahhaa, I googled it (funny how that's become a verb) and I still don't fully understand it. :D All that I understand is that it won't work on my mac. Grrrr....

SoulSeek is a completely free p2p download program, similar to Kazaa but without the adware, that a friend turned me on to a while ago. it's mainly configured for the Windows platform, but there are Mac OSX and Linux versions of the client. Here's a description taken right from the soulseek site:
Soulseek (commonly abreviated with simply "slsk") was created to be a unique alternative to Kazaa and other simple programs for people who aren't into mainstream music and want a better way to find material by artists you don't commonly find on peer to peer programs. So basically, if you want to download a bunch of mainstream music, don't use this program. It's not for you.
If you have experience with programs like IRC or if you've used Napster back in the day, this should be pretty easy for you to get the hang of. Slsk is unique in many ways though. It's all based on the user. You download from other users and you gain respect by other users by respecting them through many ways. I'll try to guide you through this as we go on. It helps if you're already pretty knowledgable with computers or are good at learning new programs. If you're not, don't worry; this guide is written for idiots like you.
see the SoulSeek homepage for more info.

Same thing with me, have favored the Soarin tracks, then the CA guitar based music, then epcot evening music (tapestry, illuminations), then Paris Frontierland tracks, then... :D
No, no... He's got a point.

I pick a few things, I like how the west was won and the Magnificent 7, then a few fireworks, then I try new ones.
I've gone full circle on my avatars.
