Re: Is this River Country?
Unless the space is going to be used for something, or they are going to scavenge parts for other things, it pretty much just stays the same as the day it closes with possible fire code exceptions. They only just recently got rid of the fantasyland end of DLR's skyway (it had closed about 20 years a...

Re: AVATAR coming to WDW
That only works if the movie is considered a hit though... if they bomb hard then it could even kill the old show.

Re: Is this River Country?
It may have held up a lot better since it no longer has people using it daily nor is it getting hit with a constant stream of chlorinated water (if that is what most of the resort used).

Re: Is this River Country?
At least some of those are (the islands, and some of the buildings/structures) Not sure if any of the other stuff is, but probably.

Re: Gondolas Returning to WDW?
At the same time, a system like that is unmanned and can have more people riding, constantly getting on/off (phrasing: boom!) which could have a greater throughput. Not sure if it is actually a smart idea but it certainly is something...

Re: Gondolas Returning to WDW?
Never mind... missed the part about it being a skyway. Neat idea but I'm not totally sure it could support the larger volume of guests that those resorts have. I am more surprised that with the focus on making money in the short term they would even consider the temporary removal of a retail locatio...

Re: WDC To Buy Euro Disney Stake
When it opened, I think the goal was to draw on euro tourists, but between weaker dollar vs the pound/euro, long vacation times, and cheap flights/off season rates they couldn't compete. Even having the Eurostar go direct from London to DLP wasn't enough. Park upkeep may be significantly higher sinc...

Re: WDC To Buy Euro Disney Stake
Not really, it is still a separate division and not all of that money just goes to Disney. Even within companies there will be payouts between divisions when they use IP (it balances out in the books, but the payment is still required). It will be safe to assume, the park will remain unprofitable un...

Re: AVATAR coming to WDW
Depending on how Avatar 2-5 do, they may expand the land further. It seems like a risky move, even though the announcement of the project was near the release of the film/announcement of the series continuing. If the next movie flops so hard it kills the franchise then Disney will be stuck with a la...

Re: Rivers of Light opening next week!
If you want to see it, I posted a link in the avatar thread... it is pretty bland, which is a shame since they had almost a full extra year to work on it.

WDC To Buy Euro Disney Stake
Looks like the unprofitable park may not be able to sustain itself any further and Disney is buying a majority stake in the company. The buyout offer of 2 Euros a share boosted share prices by 60%.

Re: AVATAR coming to WDW
Most of the shows at WDW have been around so long they are stale. While it is neat to think "Oh, parents who grew up with these films will show them to their kids" it usually doesn't happen since there is new stuff. My guess, as to why they never remove/revamp is that the shows are cheapis...

Re: Disney Springs Restaurant: Homecoming
According to the menu, that is a hot sauce that they make in-house. You could also do a hot honey (which was popular about a year ago) if you can't take heat.

Re: AVATAR coming to WDW
Yep, they had to demolish it, but there were apparently delays/whatever. Lion King got a new venue while the camp is on hiatus/may never return.

Re: AVATAR coming to WDW
Related, it looks like Rivers of Light just had their first public soft opening yesterday and it is bland... I can see why leadership buried it.
