Just reviving this thread to see what people think of the bar inside Carthay. I tried it a while back, and thought the atmosphere was cool, but haven't been back in a while. Anyone else try it out recently?

Awesome. My wife hates my fascination with getting the largest tree possible for the room, so I live vicariously for large trees like this. if you've got the space it seems a shame not to fill it! Nice pic Alacrity! 20 ft ceilings. Sixth floor. I've wrestled many a tree in the past few years....

Chicago traffic looks like every other city's traffic. Must have been ugly driving right after Thanksgiving.

We ate at Artist's Pointe last month....it was very good. I had the scallops which were excellent. I have to say though, since we were staying at the Wilderness Lodge, it was almost anticlimactic to be eating in our own hotel. haha I think it is always a fun adventure to travel to a different hotel...

I don't know why anyone would get bent out of shape over the Salvation Army sermon. It's a religious group. Every shelter run by church-affiliated groups in San Diego make guests sit for an hour sermon to get dinner or a bed for the night. Some recipients refuse to go because of the preaching, but i...

Strange. Toys for Tots generally distributes to individuals, not groups, from what I remember. However, each local chapter is semi-independent in how they distribute. For example, the Orange County chapter works in conjunction with St. Vincent de Paul, and distributes from the base (not takes them t...

Actually it has been a good day, but the world showcase tries to promote itself as a way to expose you to new cultures and people when in reality it is just like a tourist trap but with more humidity. Okay, but the hook would be the good things first, no? No argument on the 'tourist' part of the to...

The Flower Market really does look great. I'm for them maintaining it. And I didn't miss the shot across the bow at the Starbucks Market Place in the same paragraph. Let it go, Micechat. I didn't know that about TFT. As a US Marine-based organization, it's not surprising since they have distinct reg...

Bad day at the office, Wizz?
When the legend sells better than the truth, print the legend. Disney sells legends, not cultural awareness.

Re: Good Neighbor Hotel
If you're staying a bit out of walking distance and your hotel/motel does not provide a shuttle, OCTA local buses run routes from various areas. I do NOT recommend them, however, as they are not as frequent as the shuttles, and incredibly crowded during commute times (local employees use them extens...

But, one would argue, Lincoln doesn't tell a guest their health choices are wrong. Though I would also wonder if people who reference the Civil War as "The War of Northern Aggression" would also avoid the attraction entirely? :D No, dammit, he tells you YOUR SECESSIONIST CONFEDERATION IS ...

Re: Wonders of Life Pavilion Memories UPDATE-Buzzy Lives!
What people could use and what people want when paying for a theme park vacation are two very different things. And then there's that sneaky in between where people don't know what they want until they see it. I blew off virtually everything on Main Street for years, from Lincoln to the Cinema. I t...
