the Haunted Mansion/Pirates controler system, and that appears to be old custom hardware in full racks of equipment. That would be DACS... the (someone correct me if i'm wrong) Digital Animation Control Systems That's correct! DACS was renamed "Engineering Central" in the year 2000, becau...

No one over 55 yet? I'm a little surprised... I'll have to get my parents hooked on Subsonic Radio.

I fit into the 26-30 age range.

You have to remember that it's still being controled by DOS and the original Widows. Really? Do you have evidence of that, or is it just an assumption based on when the ride was created? Carousel of Progress opened at the Magic Kingdom on July 15, 1975, and I'm almost positive it runs on its own de...

Sorry, Sub! New home, new job, new part of the country--New Orleans--there's been a lot on my plate. It's just nice to be back here in your little internet utopia and talk Disney whenever I have a chance.

I'm sure it has... but up until a few weeks ago I hadn't been on the site for about six months. So it's new to me, and I love it! :D

Like driving a truck bomb into the Utilidor system and exploding it underneath Cinderella Castle? If they really wanted to, that would probably be the most devastating attack imaginable. I think you're right--Disney's security is more focused on large scale attacks rather than someone sneaking contr...

This is a great topic! The interesting thing is many of your pet peeves are identical to those lamented by Cast Members on a daily basis. Too bad there isn't a way to solve some of these once and for all...

Love the new system, sub. It's nice to sit at work and not have to hear the same songs at the same time everyday, requested by the same users. Bravo!

Paris was the #1 tourist destination in Europe at the time, so that was the major impetus in choosing the location. I also wish the park was placed somewhere in the UK, but I guess the powers that be figured it would fare better on the continent's mainland. There was also a lot of discussion about p...

I worked at WDW for about four and a half years, and one thing was always true during the summer months: we expected rain EVERY DAY. Afternoon storms typically blew in between 11:30am and 2:00pm, and usually only lasted an hour or two. These were actually a nice break in the day, as they seemed to c...

Lost is just about the only show on TV we make a point to sit down and watch every week. The writing is unbelievable, as are the plot twists and the overall quality of the series. I don't know how many more seasons this show will air, but I almost hope it ends quickly so all the questions, mysterie...

Not so crazy about being a "Pixie Duster" right now (even though I'm very secure with my sexuality), so I'll be sure to keep up the posts to move on to "Shooting Gallery Gun Cleaner," or some other job of higher importance.

That's a GREAT picture! I haven't even had time to look yet. Thanks for following up on that request. I think the photo I'm remembering is in black and white anyway, so this shot is far superior.

If anyone can find a way to do it, the very best place to watch the parade and the fireworks is from the VIP viewing area on the bridge from Liberty Square to the Main Street hub. This is where we used to bring celebrities to watch the events, because it's such an intimate and ideal viewing location.
