Haven't been for a while, but after every trip I have created a slideshow (using ProShow) to put all our pictures to music so the kids can watch them whenever they want. Last trip I had my son do the same thing himself - takes lots of time but keeps the trip alive...

Re: 2015 is last year for Osborne Lights
...Considering they are designed for the buildings at the Studios, likely not easy (or cheap) to retrofit somewhere else. Maybe they'll show up for sale and I can deck out my neighborhood... Let me know ~ I'll come see them! Me too! Give the Sound and Light Show on Parliament Hill some winter...

Re: 2015 is last year for Osborne Lights
Since it's just a bunch of lights and a few moving pieces...Disney could technically put it anywhere they wanted. I think I saw someone somewhere say they could put it at Wide World of Sport and maybe even make it a hard ticket event. The plus of having it in a park is that it forces people to go t...

Re: 2015 is last year for Osborne Lights
Crap. Never got to see them in person myself. I wonder if the concept will show up somewhere else. I suppose one can hope... I'm hopeful, but the statement they released seemed pretty definite about the show ending for good. Never give up hope though! Maybe a competing theme park will see this as a...

Right off the top of me head: DHS - Animation Courtyard MK - I like the music in and around the Village Haus (must be the German in me - sucker for all that yodeling and accordion), but admit that there is generally no sitting while at MK... AK - Flame Tree BBQ area EPCOT - Anywhere around the Fount...

Re: Old Key West
You still have to be somewhat careful, it does not appear that Disney expressly permits the practice so aside from not helping if the deal goes south they could also refuse to honor them. I suppose Disney could refuse to honor, however the bookings are essentially done by the DVC member for their '...

Re: Old Key West
We loved OKW - quiet, very nice pool area, easy access to DTD and SSR, and pretty decent WDW bus service as well. We rented DVC points from someone who posted on the Disboards forum mentioned above. We have done this many times and will do it again (unless I can convince DW to buy DVC). The arrangem...

Re: Experiences with CMs- care to share?
On a family trip in 2005 (this one really stood out for me), one of my kids forgot their disposable camera at a restaraunt (I think O'hana) on our last night. We weren't too upset because it was just a $10 camera that we bought for the kids to use themselves on the trip to snap their own photos, but...

Re: Favorite Quotes Overheard from other Visitors
On a solo trip (couple of extra days tagged on to a conference), I was on a bus on the way to Epcot. The driver, using the bus mic, began announcing pieces of Disney trivia to the passangers - in French. I was impressed (being Canadaian and somewhat bilingual myself) however a family sitting at the...

Re: Best Beers in WDW
We had dinner there and loved it. The kids had a great time watching the show and performers, and the food was great. My grandparents are German, so the food was a little like my Grandmother's 'authentic' German cuisine. Part of the fun is the seating - you share long tables with other families. We ...

Re: Best Beers in WDW
You have to come to my hometown, Ottawa Ontario, during Winterlude to truly experience the Beavertail in all it's glory. Skaing on the Rideau Canal and getting one from vendor on the ice is how a Beavertail is meant to be eaten! Getting sugar on your gloves, lemon juice freezing as you eat the steam...

Re: How frequently do you visit WDW?
Living in Canada, we typically go every 2-3 years. With DD (14) in Nationals dance competitions every summer, we take advantage of opportunities to visit WDW when the Nationals are in Orlando or close to Orlando (Hollywood, Fl in summer 2012). Airfare from Canada is a killer in terms of cost, otherw...

Re: Settling room charges at end of trip
I would suggest you make your payment intentions VERY clear when you check in - make sure there is a note on your file as well. On a trip a few years ago we advised the desk at OKW that intended on using cash and traveller's cheques to pay the balance of our room key charges upon checkout. Regardles...
