Re: New Refillable Mug Policy- Thoughts?

It's an interesting idea, but like most other things, as soon as a policy or rule is put in place, someone will try to think of a way to go around it. How long before someone figures out how to dupe the technology? It's like an arms race. Appeals to people's decency won't really work - the message m...

DL's impact on Southern Cal

When my family and I were at DL a few weeks ago, I started looking around the area, and began to wonder: how much of this is here because Disneyland is here? All the hotels and restaurants around to service the guests is easily understood, but I'm talking about broader issues than that: I have to be...

Re: Donald Duck Groping Suit

Unfortunately, this is the world we live in now. I've spent some time playing Santa Claus, and the first thing I learned was "Always make sure your hands are in clear sight." With respect to the poor sap in the duck suit, as pointed out before, he has no immediate recourse, no way of commu...

Re: Misheard or unintelligible lyrics

Not necessarily misheard or unintelligible (and not even Disney), but mis-translated: I had a boss once who insisted "Oye Como Va" translated into a farmer and his corn.

Re: Experiences with CMs- care to share?

I still to this day think about two experiences that are at least 15 years ago: 1. At Haunted Mansion in WDW - end of the night, perhaps the last group into the stretching room... the room goes dark, and when the lights come on a CM is standing right next to my sister, staring her in the face. She j...

When you find a way to work something from WDW into almost every conversation! Oh Pop, I just found my 1999 video last week. It is so fun watching Disney talk of AK as their new exciting theme park. Only sad part is it mentions River Country, and Discovery Island. River Country is gone? I wish I di...

Re: Main Street Electrical Parade VS. Spectromagic?

MSEP myself. A love I've carried since childhood - it brings back good memories. The first time my parents took us to DL, I was 3 1/2 and my sister was 5. My parents still talk about bringing the record (RECORD!!!) home and playing it in our living room, and my sister and I telling them what float e...

Re: Which hotel near Disneyland?

We stayed at the Portofino Inn about a month ago. Not as close as some others but a short walk relatively speaking. Nice rooms, free parking during the stay. I'd highly recommend it.

Re: Main Street Electrical parade - trip planning

and weather may alter the schedules as well, so you may want to avoid summer since that is the rainy season. In all honesty weather has never been an issue with me and I've been there in the summer time for most of my stays. The rains are usually in the afternoon and the night is dry for the most p...

Re: How to surprise the kids with a Disney trip

Don't know about your local television markets, but over Christmas, our television stations were running commercials for WDW in which a set of parents surprised their kids on Christmas morning by saying, "We're going to Disney World today. We're on a plane in 2 hours." Ever since then, I'm...

Main Street Electrical parade - trip planning

Ok, so when I was a kid, I loved MSEP, and I know it was a joy for my parents to see my sister and I enjoy the parade. The entire family was sad when they took it away. We were equally thrilled to learn it had returned to WDW, and then saddened when we couldn't put a big family trip (my parents, my ...

Re: Favorite Quotes Overheard from other Visitors

I remember a mother trying to deal with an overtired, loudly screaming child:

"We spent a ton of money to come have fun, and YOU WILL HAVE FUN NOW!"
